iDrive iPod Auxiliary Volume

I've done some searches and found several people talking about it, but no answers.

Is there Aux-in gain on LCI iDrive equipped cars? My 09 Mini has it, why not my iDrive?

If I don't think carefully, I just about blast myself out of the car switching between iPod and radio, because the iPod gain is so low I have to really turn it up to hear it. Wouldn't be a problem if volume was remembered between sources. Any solutions?

Garage List
My 2011 has it. When an aux device is plugged in and you go to External Devices -> AUX, you should have a volume selector on the right side.

Ok, I got a chance to look at it today. I went to CD/Multimedia.

Then to External Devices.

Then I clicked on the iPod. It started to play, so I went back.

There was no options for Aux volume. So, I pressed option and got...

Trying a different way, I went to the main menu.

I went to Tone.

Then tried Volume Settings.

But the only things there are these.

Anywhere else I should look?

Only the auxiliary input has volume control. If you're using the OEM iPod cable, there is no volume control. If you're using a 3.5mm cable to connect your iPod, you'd get volume control but you'd also lose controllability through iDrive.

Makes me wonder who the braininac at BMW thought it would be a good idea to have the gain of the OEM iPod cable so low.

I'm serious, it is a major difference between radio/CD/satellite and OEM iPod cord volumes. On the order of 10+ db at least.
