US sales of the 3 series fell 26% in the month of june

From bloomberg

Sales of the compact car fell 26 percent in June to 6,740. The introduction of the all-wheel-drive version of the vehicle in the third quarter may increase sales. “The June numbers continue the solid, consistent growth we predicted but, most important, the first six months of the year are setting the stage for even better results ahead,” Willisch said in a statement yesterday.

Three months after the introduction of the E90,werent US sales of the 3 series up?
How come we're not seeing the same thing with the F30?

I'm not surprised. It would be ideal to see F30 sales up because it is a new model but BMW's growth was so huge during with the E90 and E60 that it's hard to keep that level of sales up - it's almost like everybody who wants a BMW has a BMW. If you look at Audi, their sales/growth is huge because there share of the market is so much smaller than that of Mercedes and BMW.

Probably because most people can't tell the difference between an e90 and f30, so they don't buy either

That should be very troubling to BMW since the rest of the US car market was up.

I have no idea if this has anything to do with it, but recently I've visited several BMW dealerships and one thing that I noticed was how small and old some of them now seemed (even one that is less than a year old). More importantly, they didn't have a lot of new cars on the lot (tons of CPOs). With the competition getting better and better, I wonder if BMW is going to have to step it up on the dealership end.

Other dealerships are still offering really low financing where as BMW is not.

I personally don't like any of the new cars. They are nice but not really a BMW in the old sense of what a BMW was. Market saturation also means that if everyone drives a BMW then its a common car and not a car that distinguishes you from the rest. People looking for the flash factor won't get that as much and look to other brands. those are my reasons for not wanting to purchase any of the newer models.

this. bmw is one of the most expensive cars to lease/finance out of lexus, audi, bmw. not surprised why people are buying audi a4s instead. just to give an idea, a lexus rx350 is $250 cheaper a month than a bmw x3...

it's b/c the economy is still shaky. period. And the F30 got a lot bigger. Which puts it nose to nose with the C300. I'm waiting for the 4th generation of Honda Fit's to come out, I heard it will be the size of a F350 on 38's.

Surprising since the F30 is pretty new. I've been seeing quite a few of them in my area but I guess numbers don't lie. A lot of people I talk to don't really like the new look of the f30...maybe these slow numbers are a product of that? BMW's designs are pretty much love/hate these days.

^ I live in the weller to do area of tampa where everyone has a 328i. E90's dominate the population 10:1 of any other body. I am very surprised I haven't seen but one new F30. Very odd. I think it's a combination of issues. The E90 was out when everyone was taking a 3rd or 5th mortgage out on their house to buy a car or whatever. In general I think the trend of buying new high end cars is not even close to what it was in the mid 2000's. Will take a few generations to forget 2009 when the world almost came to an end. I work in construction, I graduated college in 2007. I don't think I"ll ever forget. Telling you, the F30 is bigger, ugglier, the magazines don't like it and the economy is against it. you do the math. If it's not taking over new tampa by now, I think it will only get worse for it.

M-B set a U.S. sales record in june. C class, E class sales were up... BMW's 5 series continues to be a hit and saw strong sales as well.

Our local dealer has had hard time moving their 2012 3 series inventory. The cars came in before summer still sit in the lot with some 2013s starting to arrive. I have seen 1 or 2 F30 around the town and that is very different from what we saw when the E90s first came to the market. I have no idea why that is, but I am hoping I see some great deals on the 12' models.

When the e36, e46 and e90 first came out I was impressed by their looks and ended up getting one within the first year. The F30 on the other hand is the first 3 series I just don't care for looks and size wise. I plan on skipping this generation.

Lack of vision and insight by USA dealers.

Huge missed opportunity to attract new customers with a 50mpg+ 4 cyl diesel.
The 335d did not make any waves.

Like most Euro customers, I want a 320d Touring. Hopefully the Z2 will see the light of day over here.
