Howdy fellas! I am new to site and a new owner to a 2009 335i E90. This thing almost makes sitting in Atlanta traffic enjoyable. How I love this car! She is CPO, Jet Black on black, iDrive with the iPod interface, sports package with the paddle shifters (I have embarrassed the hell out of myself trying to use these BTW), heated seats with 23K miles. Thanks Afghanistan otherwise I still would have been sporting the Tacoma!
So far here's what I have done to her: - Zaino'ed her a$$, that took over 15 hours, - MRR GT-7, 18" with Pirelli PZero all season (yeah, I know...I'll burn through them quick enough), - stainless pedals (what an a$$ pain, still don't know if I did it right?), - matte black grills, - 3M crystalline 35% (yeah, I know this too, but I really don't want to get pulled over), - K&N drop in, - Lux H8's are in route (hurry the hell up, I hate the stock AE) Now that I have taken care of the superficial stuff, I want to move to the inside and under the hood. I thought about doing the cold air kit but I am going to ride with the K&N for awhile (until I can get in with my SA and not get dinged for the mods). How about a chip mod? What else do you guys suggest? The car is still under warranty so I don't want to void it but have been bit by the mod-bug. I know next to nothing about BMWs and hands on mechanics but am damn willing to learn and try! Cut me some slack though, you'd never know it is a chic driving this car! Also, I have my first visit to United Roswell (where I bought the car). Any suggestions for a SA? How are they are service? I have noticed some longer than normal crank times, should I mention the HPFP? I have read all the nightmares about service here in ATL so am I just screwed unless I go to a local shop? I am open to suggestions and guidance! |

congrats and welcome to the forum! looks like you have a great start! Get those amber reflectors taken care of and you will have a blacked out beast
Welcome to the forum and thanks for serving our country! I am only in Acworth to wakeboard in the summer, but hopefully we will have an Atlanta meet soon! as for the tune ("chip"), there are a bunch of us locally that can give you a taste of how fast these cars can be. Don't want to be bias and tell you to get over the other, but there is a lot of info on the forum about these two tunes (both of which will void your warranty unless you take the proper steps): a bunch of local members (including myself) run this tune: PROcede http://www.vishnutuning.com/RevIICAN.htm JB3 tune: http://www.burgertuning.com/jb3pnp.html

Welcome and great to see another local.
There are options for upgrades depending on what you feel cofortable with. On the engine management front, it is piggy or flash. Flash is nice due to there not being any physical hardware to install/remove. However, thus far, most have gone the piggyback route as it is fairly simple to install/remove and provides additional features over what the flashes can currently do. On that aspect, there are two potential options and in their current iterations, really one option: PROcede. |

Welcome and your car looks awesome!! Definitely wouldn't expect to see a "chic" driving it, so kudos!! Not a N54 expert so listen to scalbert and ATL E92
I'm at Kennesaw State so I'll look for you and that badass E90 on the road As far as service goes, I use Nalley in Decatur as of right now and they're pretty good to me. United's got some positive reviews so I might check them out myself. I'd imagine that you should mention the HPFP so they can at least look at it (there is a recall after all). Plus I say take it to the dealership as long as you have that kickass CPO warranty. Again, sick car, welcome, and thanks for serving.

Bought my car from Nalley BMW in Decatur and have been twice for service. I like the waiting area better there but that's about it. I've been going to United in Roswell and have had great service as the SA has gone out of her way to help me out, her name is Carol Craig.
As for tune and mods, shop around and even drive some of the different options. I went the custom tune (flash) route and have been very happy. I am also in a CPO'd 335 and haven't had any problems with service or repairs since the car was tuned. Good luck and thanks for you service.

Welcome.
The car looks great, I agree with Henry though... get those amber reflectors out and she'll look even cleaner. I ordered mine from JBSpeed and they matched my Alpine White quite well. Quote:

PROCede here too. As far as your long cranks... perhaps you should request a service history of your car and see if it has been brought in for HPFP-related issues already and what steps were taken. I think your best bet is to start from there, but as long as the car is 'behaving' despite the occasional long crank I would wait before taking her to the stealer because some HPFP-service-related changes should be on the horizon due to the recent scoop ABC News ran on this very issue. If you need help installing a piggyback or the amber reflectors let us know, we often have mini mod-fest meetings at Scalbert's someone's house. Ciao, -Walter

Thanks Walter! I see some of you are definitely up in my "neck of the woods." I for sure want to change out the reflectors but the whole busting out the heat gun has me a little iffy!
Thanks for all the feedback, leaning towards the PROCede... |

Just order the reflectors and let me know when you get them, I drive 3 times per week to Woodstock and can stop by on my way back home. You could also stop by our next mod-fest, I see a couple of us rolling our sleeves soon for a DP install party. -Walter

Someone got new DP's? I keep scouring the forums for a good used set, but no luck yet!

What kind of DPs are you looking for? I knew I wanted a set of the 'better ones' but was not going to pay the asking price for a new set, so I pulled the trigger on a set of BB Fabrications (same as AR Designs) that was 'gently used', installed and removed by a BMW tech. Got them yesterday, they look great. I am sending them out to get ceramic coated and can hardly wait to install them. Keep looking in the Classifields, good deals are usually sniped within minutes. -Walter

Walter, you're right. I've got a set of TiTek catless DPs with an additional EGT bung welded on for sale if anyone's interested. My AR Design ones should be here tomorrow. I'll keep an eye out in the classifieds as always and let everyone know. -BPMBoA |
