e93 model decision
I'm down to three very different convertible options:
1) CPO 2009 335i convertible monaco blue / saddle brown with 49k miles. $36000 2) 2011 335is lemans blue / oyster. 20k miles. Great price at $49k. 3) 2012 M3 Jerez Black / Fox Red. I found a used one I could probably get down to $70 or do European Delivery (2013) for about that $70k number. The 335is is perhaps the best deal, but I don't love love the colors like I do the other two. The CPO car has a great color combo but 49k miles. The M3 is just a beast, though I probably wouldn't test it near its limits and am probably 70/30 City / Highway. Love this color combo as well, and having one of the last V8s would be kind of neat should I hold on to it. I've test driven all three, although not as hard as I'd like for the M3. The 335i needs a chip, the IS can certainly do without, and the M3 is clearly frustrated by speed limits. I'd try holding onto the M3 while the other two are likely stop gaps until the new body style. Any thoughts? |

given that you already have a 335xi, you won't be very impressed with the 335i. That's also a lot they're asking for a car with 49k miles.
Personally, I'd go with the IS. It's a great car for the deal and you won't be killing yourself at the pump compared to the M... that is, unless you have a special place in your heart for it.

I actually cobbed my xi last night just to see the difference and to get a longer impression of higher torque than the is test drive allowed. I like. But I also got complements on my Monaco blue / saddle brown xi coupe at the gas station which leaves me with a "can't go wrong" feeling.
I am leaning towards the is purely for the deal and higher torque around town. If I crave the m3 color combo I still have time to get a European delivery in August / september and sell the IS at not too great a loss. A bit silly, yes, but not too financially stupid. I think. |

Get the 335iS and call it a day! I wish I could see those prices for that car around here.
I have to admit though, that colour combo is ugly lol. I hate the oyster interior. To each there own though |
