Well, I glossified my matte black rims. I'm pretty disappointed but I made a video of the process nonetheless, haha!

(See update 8/4/14. I'm removing it!)

Oh god.

Anyways.... Well I didn't want to peel it off! But I didn't do a great job on a couple rims, so luckily it does peel off. I guess on top of plasti dip it probably adheres better and is much glossier. Sigh.

As you said I'm guessing it needs to apply to Plastidip to get the proper glossy effect. Guessing it wouldn't be much more to whack a few light coats of plastidip black on first as your wheels are already black.

Nice work! But bummer.

IMO though gloss black wheels are MUCHHH harder to see than matte black.

My friend has gloss black wheels on his 650 and they just disappear. Matte black is much more visible and doesnt get as "lost"

I do agree though a little bit more shine on the wheels would be nice. A middle of the road "satin" black I think looks best and you're getting there. I wonder what a wheel painter/powder coater could do for you.

When I had my 189's I added glossifier after spraying matte black first without removing the wheels from the car. Came out similar to urs nothing too special/reflecty. That being said my plasti dip skills sucked and I couldn't spray the angles properly.

Hmm yeah, I just didn't feel like doing the matte black plasti dip first.

Yeah I guess it is better to remove the wheels from the car so I can spray heavier coats.

Glossifier is not like regular dip, you have to go real slow with it and put on heavy coats for the glossy effect. Check out the vid on YouTube

Honestly it's a lot easier to remove the wheels and then spray them. That way the glossifier doesn't overspray all over your car.

I actually did black plasti dip and then did 5 coats of glossifier, it still was not shiny.. I think its just a low gloss finish or something..

Awesome job!
I personally like glossy black wheels better than just matte because they look more "expensive" and "higher quality" if you know what I mean :

Ugh yeah. It's hard to spray it slow and not have it from a puddle though.
