Fortune Magazine top 10 Rides

Surprising with some rankings, but BMW fared well. I would not consider these people auto enthusiasts by any means, but a varied perspective as to what Im used to hearing on some categories.

o' rly: Ask an automotive engineer -- off the record -- to state a benchmark, and chances are he'll pick an Audi.

I don't get how the RS4 could be a "high watermark" or "benchmark" when it was an already outdated car by the time that article was published..

Well built? I think not.

A friend's wife had the A4 cabrio (dont remember exactly what model). That thing was in for repairs more than it was in their driveway.

And if you read these forums you'd think the same thing about M-DCT equipped cars. I owned VW/Audis for 15 years. They are very well built. Reliability was a problem with some but they were still well built. Being well built doesn't equate to reliability especially when the majority of the failures are from 3rd party parts.

Well, this one was not modded at all. She sold the car within 2 years of buying it new because of all the issues. Im not saying they can't produce a reliable car, or that BMW is better.
