Question TMS

Its got some drone at 2 -2.5k rpm....

I like it but im not loving it... Is there something i think iv read about adding a resanator to kill the drone...

I just LOOOOVED the stock exhaust but wish it was like 4x louder...

this exhaust has alot of good things about it at the diff RPM ranges....

but I want perfection... Any one got any tips on anything you can do to after market exhausts... This is my first mod ever on a car....

Exclamation TMS

There are vides of the a fly by check top of page 1..

anyways.. I read somewhere that if you join the two exhaust lines together by welding a strip accross the two.. and bast on the correct calculations of some shit.. u can determin the right lenghth of the strip to cancle drone..

we look like the TMS exhaust had a ajustable tie strip.. to i changed the dimention.. I think it made a big diff... but another problem is there is now some rubbing on cold starts... makes clunkin noise... but i think it be a minor adj for the muffler shop.. since those fools took 3 hours to put this on... BUDGET Brake N muffler... I went cheap... but they know there shit... just dont put alot of these peice by piece systems on...

still not sure if iv found the ONE!!

This is basically a duplicate post of another thread on the TMS exhaust I wrote but I figured I'd put it here for those who might only be following this thread...

I pulled the trigger back in the spring when they had their sale on and got a great deal. I'm really happy with the exhaust. It's got just enough rumble down low and a great exotic-ish sound (although still very BMW sounding) up high. The clamp issue that another person posted about appears to have been resolved as I didn't have any issues with the clamps and they appear to be well built.

Be aware, even though Turner does state that they did their best to eliminate drone - it still has it. In my opinion any aftermarket exhaust that's designed to be louder than factory will have drone as the auto manufacturers tune the hell out of their exhausts and interiors to eliminate this. Any change to one or the other can make it worse. The drone in this particular exhaust is most noticeable at around 80-90 km/h in sixth gear (6MT transmission). At the moment I'm not sure where that puts the RPMs but it's definitely the sweet spot where drone shows up. That being said, it almost completely disappears over 100km/h and is a VERY respectable highway driving exhaust. Once you get on the throttle though there's no doubt it's not factory as it gets louder and louder (and better sounding!) the higher in the RPMs you go.

I didn't weigh the exhaust but versus stock it's probably a little over half the weight. So pretty significant.

All in all I'd highly recommend it - one season in and I'm still loving it.

Hope this helps!

Has anyone tried running some nice catted DP's, remove mid cats and extend pipe to eliminate the mufflers? I'm in Ontario, Canada, so for me the most important is still passing emissions and at the same time getting better flow, but nice stockish sound (just louder) all while saving weight.

Any clips of this kind of set-up and how it would affect power/weight?

hi saad0025,

so you are running the TMS exhaust and getting drone?
how do you compare with stock?
any loss in low end?
have you addressed it with resonators?

There was one for sale recently and I picked it up. I love the sound of this exhaust -- there is noticable drone at 2.5k RPM (highway cruising speed) but the exhaust is really quiet when your foot isn't gunning the accelerator. It might be too tame for some, I'm planning to pair this with some DP's and I'm sure it's going to sound even meaner. It has a very exotic sound at WOT.

did anyone run this on a 4 door 08 335xi?!?! I just picked one up and I'm having issues clearing the diver side pipe that connects to the down pipes. It's hitting & pushing into the heat shield reaaaaaaaaal good / pushing it in on the wire harness and whatever else is up there. Wondering if anyone else had an issue and what they did to solve it. Trying to get into Turner sooner than later, but would love to just jack it up myself and bolt it on as advertised, which failed round 1.
