the 135 is gonna be long too. my primes are 35L, 50 1.4, 100 2.8, and 135L. i think that's it. i'm fucking exhausted. i use the 35 a lot for outdoor portraits, 50 as well. I need an 85. the 135 is really just too long most of the time, but i'll never part with it. cause when i need it, i NEED it.

tonight's shoot:

Behind the Scenes by jsophoto, on Flickr

shot outside from about 1830 to about 2250. Long, hot, sweaty day, and i'm drop dead tired...but i think it was worth it. I'll be going back to that location a bunch in the fall/winter.

Mark,

I wouldn't get the 580EX MKII unless you are going to use it often. Make sure the 24-70mm is sharp, because I've heard it's difficult to get a really good copy of that lens. And the 70-200mm f/2.8 IS is nice, but unless it's the MKII version, I prolly wouldn't get that. Plus, it's still heavy as hell...

Fear not, I haven't the funds to buy any of it. I will get a flash one of these days, but as I will probably rarely use it, I'll go for the 430 EX II.

Add a brick to your bag next time you go out, you will think twice about the 2.8. I have a love hate relationship with my 300 which is 10 oz lighter than the 70-200 2.8 and <twice as much as the F4 version.
2.8>300>F4
1400g-1100g-760g
and the f4IS is sharper too.
If you need the 2.8, then you need it period.

Yup, that's true Kevin. Precisely why I went with the f/4 IS instead, since I don't need the f/2.8 and it's a helluva lot lighter and just as sharp as the new f/2.8 IS II.

I figure the added weight will be offset by my lighter wallet.

Vincent LaForet is at it again... this time with RED.

The focal length in terms of 35mm is more than 3400mm – not too shabby when you consider this was shot at 4K, 120fps in full RAW on the Epic. The angle of video of a Canon 600mm f4 EF Lens with a 2X converter on a RED Epic, is roughly one degree.

I thought it was pretty cool...

Christ when did the 24-70 go to $1400 brand new? I haven't been keeping up with new prices in awhile.

Is anyone else using the photosharing site call Razzi? I just made a account today and it actually looks pretty cool (Which is refreshing since I have tried countless sites lately) and a nice alternative to Flickr.
My page, friend me if you are on the site =)

I'm a complete noob when it comes to lens.

I'm looking at 75-300mm lens to shoot moving cars (autocross and track) and other far distance moving objects.

I'm looking and I see alot of variation in price, for example:

versus

OHHH JESSSSSSSSSSS.

Just bought my first DLSR thanks to some help from Litos:

Nikon D7000 16.2 MP DX-format Digital SLR Camera Body w/ 1080p HD Video
+

Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR II Lens

________________________

I've been trying to buy this thing for a while but its often sold out. Best part about it is the price. Bought it from Beach Camera, no shipping, no tax, and there's a current $250 coupon from Nikon if you buy a camera + lens. All for $1808.

I'm a newbie so i'm gonna be reading up on everything most of you already know. Was worried i wouldn't be able to get it before my trip to New York.

Congratulations.
If you are going to take pictures of buildings and things which don't move, set the camera on a towel and use the self timer, unless you have shutter speeds~1/500th and up. The prime range for sharp pictures will range about F8-11.

Visit B&H in NY before you visit anything.(So you still will have money in your acct.)
