Question "Best" Intake: Injen, aFe or BMS DCI?

Which one of these intakes sounds the best and has proven HP gains?
I dont want my engine to look like crap with the BMS dci, so i was thinking of aFe or injen, unless there is some crazy benifits of it (other than price).

Thx!

Not on your list but a very popular one around here is the Mr5 DIY intake.

Exactly what I'm doing as soon as I get around to it! Only differences will be bolts going the other way and an inverted-top filter (http://www.summitracing.com/parts/KNN-RR-3003/)

Depends on your goals. You just mentioned every intake that breathes in hot air. Try one that breathes in cold air

How about a hose attached to a mini freezer taped to
The bumper ??? In the end Jeff is right, choose one that suits your needs ..I think the m5 is a waste .All the fastest cars and best drag times is from the dci. It's proven and sounds great spoiling up.

There's a difference between not running the correct intake to complement your mods and junk.

The AFE intake on my car complements my FBO capability.. and since there's really no evidence to quantify whether the **arguably** marginally higher IAT's are enough to negate the improvement in ease of airflow calling something junk is silly. Again, this is also not considering the improved cooling capabilites of an intercooled car, let alone an aftermarket intercooler and meth kits.

Also, at all speeds, above traffic or dead motionless on a dyno there's air being directed into the engine bay. In my mind this diminishes the amount of time the car is sucking in hot air.. and the effects of this heated air is up for debate on our platform.

I KNOW there is a difference in performance on my car when going from a stock box with drop in to a DCI with FBO's. I believe there are still gains with anything above stock boost levels. There are dyno's demonstrating gains.. their accuracy I cannot comment upon, but nonetheless.

Honestly the Stett is great, Dinan is great, and Mr 5 would be the next best.

After that your just breathing in hot air. Those fastest guys all run meth making the difference negligible at that point.

Without meth the best is one that breathes cold air

With meth getting the most air is best albeit cooler air would be better.

Honestly you mine as well just get a regular DCI.... I'd be more then happy to see 3rd party dynos that show otherwise.

I know what I was going to see on this thread when I read the subject line. Don't pay these guys no mind. I was in the same boat (stuck between the two). Anyway, between the two you're looking at, I'll have to say aFe. It has scoops that sits behide the grills to help pull in air, uses the factory snorkle to direct the air to the filters, and a heat shield that seals to the hood to help reduce some of the hot air from the engine. It look flawless and sounds amazing too btw. Whichever one you go with, make sure it's what you want.

I would put Mr5 and Dinan tied for #1, followed by Stett or the other true CAI's as the next best.

OP - If you do not want to learn from what has been discovered on this thread, then don't go with any of the above and get the Injen or ETS. They have metal pipes and big filters. I rocked the aFe for a short while, and liked the way it looked. The build quality was what bothered me and led me to switch to a Mr.5 setup (combined with Mr.5's test results ). The aFe uses thin crappy sheetmetal as a heatshield, and the hood gasket they supplied me did not fit properly nor did it work very well. The plastic pipes also concerned me, and there has been at least one instance on here where the pipes melted. Do your research and go with what you feel is right.
