Nokian Hakkapeliitta R2 SUV tires

Earlier this week I took off the Pirelli Scorpion Verde A/S run flat tires that came with my F15 diesel for a new set of non-RFT Nokian Hakkapeliitta R2 SUV 255/50R19XL (via Discount Tire) and couldn't be happier.

This will be my winter set-up. The Hakkas seem to be handling the standing water on the roads and freeways of the Pacific Northwest better than the Verde's and I'm hoping they'll do a lot better in the snow on ski trips to Whistler and the North Cascades. Its still early but they seem to be a bit quieter as well (maybe because they're not run flats?).

I've driven 500 miles on the Verdes and only 100 miles so far on the Hakkas. Will report back after another 500+ miles and hopefully a little snow action.

Did you get another set of winter wheels or just change tires in and out?

I just changed out the tires and put the Hakkas on the 19" Style 449 wheels. My plan is buy a set of 20" Style 336 wheels for my Spring/Summer/Fall set-up and put some Continental ExtremeContact DWS rubber on them.

The RFT Verde's that came with the X5 will occupy a place in my garage for putting back onto the 449s for when I trade it in as soon as I reach 75k miles (~4 years). My experience has been that if you don't have relatively new run flats on the vehicle when you do a trade-in for a new BMW, the dealership knocks $1,000-1,500 off the trade-in value.
