It really doesn't matter what you use as long as it's a solid construction that won't buckle under the stress of the high pressure air generated by the splitter. Carbon fiber, Metal, Wood, Injection molded plastic, Fiberglass, whatever. The same principles still exist. I'm a pilot so I understand the properties of aerodynamics pretty well.

If wood was useless for the direction of airflow, there wouldn't have been aircraft using it for construction of flight control surfaces back in the early 1900's.
I understand the physics behind a splitter. I also understand that wood will still work as a splitter (even though it is heavier). Do you realize how much work really goes into designing a splitter in racing/track applications?

Here's a hint: they don't go to Home Depot and cut one out.

For a simple light track use design, the OP is fine with what he's designed. It's parallel to the ground with a rounded front edge. Can it be improved? Sure, but for a basic add on to create a pressure differential on the front of the car, it's fine.

Do you really expect everyone to invest in wind tunnel testing and CAD designed parts to create the most effective front splitter for our vehicles?

will that weigh out (no pun intended) the fact that it is made of wood and adds extra weight? I'd say no. So there's no point in him acting like it is a performance accessory.

Ignore the haters, it looks sick to me. Wooden splitters are pretty common so don't know what all this hate is about, most track days you will see somebody running them.

What do they want, you to get somebody to make a full carbon flat bottom for the car at a cost of probably more than the car itself! On a budget, it will work fine, theres plenty of people out there doing it with the lap times to prove it.

the splitter provides downforce. it pulls the front end of the car down onto the road

I see that up next is a roll bar and bucket seats.

I have two e92s, both with Status Racing bucket seats and roll bars that I'm looking to part with - shoot me a PM if you want and I'll let you know what I'm offering.
