If not, if you're doing this at WOT, that's normal.
Of course at WOT, just find it weird that first gear shifts at 6500rpm, my Z4 35i used to shift at normal 7000 redline every gear (at WOT, of course)

Its the torque that matters and I think he was suggesting that tapers off earlier so accel times actually fall with later shifts.

Best of luck with your engine. There is a reason EVERY engine manuf in the world suggests some sort of break in period.

No, sorry, but that's not the point: in 1st (and 2nd gear) torque and power are limited by the manifacturer and that's the reason why if you are in D or S and floor the accelerator the step will pass to 2nd gear at 6.500, to 3d gear approximately at 6.700 and the following change will be at 7.000 with NO drop in the progression (as I wrote before, N55 has a fantastic breath at high revs).
If you are in M and you keep the 1st gear to rev-limiter you will feel an evident drop on push after 6.500
I will check out on the Sports Display to see if it shows these limitations in power and torque on 1st and 2nd gear

1st gear is there just to get the car rolling. BMW's aren't designed for drag racing so I don't know why we would expect it to perform like one.
