Need a New Hood

Hey guys,

I am looking to get a hood that has vents on the top to let the hot air our since these cars get so freakin hot in the engine bay and I DONT want a CF hood...at all.

Any suggestions? I would like one that's fairly easy on the ol' wallet

PS I know we have some experts on these forums so I would love any advice on buying a hood.

Also, I guess I wouldnt need my stock one any more.... does anyone know how much money I can expect to get from selling it? Or if I can even sell it for anything? Its in perfect condition - Bright red

Thanks advance for the input....

Wouldn't those vents also let water in?

You know....i was thinking the same thing, but then i thought about the million cars (like evo's and sti's that have vented hoods and I cant imagine they would tolerate water in the engine bay...I dont know what to think man...

I don't know of any metal aftermarket hoods for our cars, but if you buy the 3D design carbon fiber vents w/rain tray from either WheelSTO or EAS that might suit you. The part that sucks is that the vents alone cost about half what a full carbon fiber hood would cost you and you have to have someone cut and install and possibly repaint your stock hood. To me these vents are the best in terms of design and the placement of the vents on the full carbon hood are where I'd like them. Not sure if this helps, but its an idea.

The vents allow water to get in but it has no effect on the engine. The engine is designed to withstand moisture exposure and unless you are driving through 4 foot puddles, it won't be an issue.

Here is the Vorsteiner Vented Race Hood installed on my 135:

this is EXACTLY what I am looking for! Thanks for the advice. If you dont mind me asking, how much did it cost you? Painting and all...

Also, did you sell your stock hood for a good price?

Thanks

The factory hood is around $500. Plus another $60 for each hood hinge. Makes those CF hood seem cheap ehh?

You wont be able to sell your stock hood for much as shipping will.run $200 + material.

A better option to wht I assume is high iat's would be to get a methanol/water system or a stett oil cooler.
