Will they chop off your right hand if you're caught stealing rims and tires in LA?

(The US could reduce LA's crime rate close to zero if people really wanted. But they don't want to.)

t's relatively rare for a car to be stolen in Dubai. Usually someone steals a car only when driver has left it unlocked with keys in ignition (sometimes with motor running - especially in summer to keep it cool while going in to shop, bank etc). Police figures were 115 cars stolen in this way in 2006, up to 150 cars in 2007, prompting them to issue a 300 dh fine to people who leave their cars running while unattended (about 2000 got hit by a fine in 2007, unknown if this includes the 150 who had their car stolen).

Anywhere from $100K onwards.

These plates are sold in an auction (with a minimum starting price) - so if you have someone else who wants it - be prepared to pay.

All the money goes to the government.

I have a pretty mundane 5 digit plate and was once offered $5K for it just cos the guy like the numbers on it.

Cars do not get stolen much in Dubai.

and no, they do not chop your hand off. These kind of punishments are only in Saudi Arabia.

The worst physical punishment here is being lashed and it is reserved for muslims who do something truely messed up....

thats EXACTLY what i was thinking... its one thing to write on the glass, but to grind that dirt into the paint. wash or no wash, if i happened to catch someone doing that to my car, i would have a few heated four letter words to throw across.

windows good.

paint bad.

Most probable sit there until the bank (if it is under loan) notifies the police.

A passing patrol car might see it and takes down the details. Bank claims the car and auctions it.

If there is no bank loan taken against it - cops will leave a notice on the car - if it isn't moved within six months, it gets impounded and then will get auctioned off after a few more months.

Either way, there is a new owner in that car's future.

Not quite, I don't see scratches, dents, scrapes, damage to the body, it's just really dirty. I know this dude who happens to be a doctor who drives a 2007 911 Turbo with tons of bird poop and mud all over his car. He just doesn't have the time to wash his car. I think he washes it once a year or something.

How about the must neglected Maybach?
