About The New 3 Series!

Is the new 3 series is going to have the same kind of front end with the Z, 5, and the 7 series? THX IN ADVANCE

ummm...how would you expect us to know for certain?

There's a good chance they will be though. Brand unification, I guess.

I am willing to bet that that's the case. The new regulations around pedestrian accidents require to have a bubbly soft front end, and that's exactly what it is.

The LCI has pretty much the same headlights, taillights, hood and some other parts, so i would guess the new one will def take the grills and interior.

I think it will sport the snub nose, over-sized kidney styling BMW has seem to adopt as their new brand design language. I am praying that they do not but it is very likely they will.

While I love the rear end styling of the 5 and 7 series the front ends are just not good looking to me.

BS. New photos aren't out, they'd be photoshopped. Secondly, 1 series headlights would not go on the new 3.

yes, they are out, photos showed up on the 4th, and yes, it has 1 series headlights, just like the new 5 series has, the cammo does not cover up the front end design or the headlights

http://www.bmwblog.com/2009/12/04/le...ft/#more-25214

again, this is the face lifted 3 series, it's pretty obvious it got the new bug eye lights that started on the 1 series, are now on the new 5 series, and now the face lifted 3 series

they are ugly on the 1 and everything else they put them on

I think he's talking about the next gen 3 series (F30?). The pics you have are of LCI E92/E93.

yeah I was talking about the facelift

the new 5 series has the same ugly headlights, I cant see them changing the headlight style for the 3 series, it seems they are going with the bug eye look

...and the pig snout grilles. It's a shame, but it will still look better than the original E90. IMO one of the worst looking BMW's ever, and it almost swore me away from the brand (I had previously owned 3 different generations of the 3er). Ironically enough, I drive an '08 E90 335i now.... I guess I still think she's ugly in stock form, but I'm glad I own it so I can at least get rid of the chrome grille catastrophe and the godawful amber headlight inserts.

No matter what, you'll be able to tweak the looks of the car to your liking once you get it. I'm more worried about weight and size gains. Even the E90 is getting bigger than what I'd like out of my "fun" car. If they brought the 1er 5-door here, that's what I'd be driving right now.

I wonder how different the front end design language would be if BMW didn't have to comply with the new pedestrian safety mandates.

There's no way to know for sure (unless you're a designer in Munich) but since BMW seems to be going for more unified styling between their models, I would say that there is a better than average chance of this happening.

Confusion there - I had been talking about the new model, not the facelift. I can see a bit of similarity in the photo you showed and the 1 series, but I don't see that similarity in the 5 series.

I love z's front end and i don't want the new 3 series to lose of its compact shape. im kind of confuse cause i love the current design a lot, and i don't know if i have to wait for the new model or go with the current version.
