can i go 235/40/18 and 265/40/18?

The rear tire is taller than the front 265/35/18 is the proper size.

Make sense?
yes it certainly does. thank you for the good reply!

Here is a nice comparison with style 162 and stock vs. upsized tyres http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...2#post14323772

Just remember those tyre sizes affect your speedo making it showing slower speed than you really are going, but in reality BMW's Speedo shows more than true speed from factory anyway. So it would be good idea to check with gps what's the true speed really is.
thank you for the reply and thats really interesting about the BMW speedo's not showing the true speed. i would have never known that

Yeah, we had little bit of arguing about what happens to speedo, when upsized tyres are used. So there probably are some conflicting info. Truth is speedo shows more than true speed. You can code the digital speed hud to show the exact speed.

Your get more miles on your tires if you get a square set. Otherwise, you can't rotate your tires and that means you will be replacing them much more often.

e90's typically run about 3mph slow then true speed. 63 = 60 etc.

I agree with iboost, if you went up a profile in tire, you would probably cancel out this little misnomer.

Check these out before you make a final decision to buy.

This, I think is a square set up.

Yes the digital speedo is off as well, but it can be coded to show true speed. Check number 79 from this document. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/...ext=true#gid=0

See sig for possible upsizing options.

It's true; stock speedo reads faster than you're actually going. With many smartphone apps being made available now and as cheap as stand alone GPS units are, why is this still a topic of debate? Either option will let you know EXACTLY how fast you're driving with any wheel/tire combination imaginable. It's not rocket surgery and peeps still fighting the truth are either dumb or just plain ignorant...either way, after using a GPS unit on my dash as well as road side radar based equipment, I can tell you that both my current wheel/tire setups read 100% accurate when compared to stock wheel/tire sizes at all speeds tested up to ~80 mph or so (which ends up being about 3-3.5% difference).

Going up a profile would make it more accurate as long as you don't rub. Your odometer wouldn't be accurate anymore though. You would put less miles on your car than you actually drove

I am totally sold on the oem sport suspension. It drives like a dream and I have no desire to change it. My goal is to decide to either get a square set up or go staggered with these 18" wheels. Another primary objective is to fill in the wheel gap with a meatier tire. I would also benefit form a meatier tire due to the condition of most roads here in NY.

Another factor- I purchased the wheel and tire protection plan for 5 years. Its to my understanding that as long as the wheels are OEM and under 21" and have the "original" tires on- I am warrantied. So I am unsure of tire options that are covered, as well as sizes. I am assuming run flats are my only choice for warranty coverage

Any advice would be great.
