2 very small dents on my brand new car, any ideas?
I have a 335 which I did European Delivery on a few months ago, and I finally got it delivered at home last week. I friend just pointed out to me that there are two very small little dents on the left and right rear quarter panel of the car, in identical locations on both sides. I indicated where they on the attached pictures.
Does anyone have any clue what might cause that? They were not there when I dropped off the car before transport. They are very minimal and hard to see unless the light strikes just right. I am thinking that straps placed over the trunk during transport might do it, but I can't imagine they ship cars that way. There is no way I made these dents, unless staring at my new baby caused them! Any ideas? I am debating with my dealer on who will pay for fixing them. Thanks! |

Have your dealer fix them - I always thought the cars were secured at the wheels?
Maybe the shipping truck went over a bump that caused the car to hit the frame of the shipping vehicle? Either way not your fault - have them fix it.

I definately want the dealer to fix them, but they say it wasn't identified when I picked it up from them, so they are not liable.
They may change their minds, but that's their opinion so far |

Check and see if there is a reputable dent masters in your area - My cousin got a dent taken out of his 996TT (paint-less repair) from a dent masters shop in socal.

The dent wizard guy is a steady at just about any dealer. Those dents are from the strap on a rough boat ride across the pond. Your dealer knows it, because he has had many just like it fixed by the dent wizard before selling the car.
Explain to him that you feel he should take care of them for you. If he doesn't, pay dent wizard directly and find a new dealer. The dent repair should be perfect when complete. |

imho it's not your issue to identify how to fix those dents, it's either the dealership or the carrier's. They are big boys and even though they're bleeding money now due to the economy, they're not off the hook. good luck. |

Just remember, the squeaky wheel gets the grease. For some of us it's very uncomfortable to be a persistent complainer. But with dealerships, it's often a necessary tactic. Also, don't hesitate to go up the chain of command at the dealership.

I noticed the exact same dents on my car the other day. They are very small and you have to be at just the right angle to see them. There is no way they could be door dings based on where they are on the quarter panel unless someone with lambo doors dinged it shutting them. I don't know what they are from either.

Wrong! Those things are killers and will not give you a good result. The car is new - your dealer should just acknowledge the damage and have a paintless dent removal done, which will cost him $100 tops for both dents. No big deal to him but could cost him in good will, negaive posts if he refuses to do it. You shouldn't have to push them on this. They should gladly do it.
