Update on My iTouch 64gb purchase for 2013 X5

So, I have played around with my newly acquired 64gb iTouch and it works great! with my 2013 X5
I mean could've just use my iphone 5 BUT, I have it in a Mophie Case and don't wanna keep dismantling the case.
I can't understand why is a Y-Connector available as an accessory from BMW? Since the white apple USB wire that comes with ipod functions as it should! ..........(In center console)
Also speaking of Bluetooth Audio, It's VERY limited as far as functionality!
Example (Selecting Music)!

SO, If anyone can answer this:
What does the Y-Connector do, That the traditional USB can't???

Thanks in advance.

It charges your iPod/iPhone which the Y-connector does not do.

LOL... So what good is that? I will not be buying that! That's for sure!

Thanks for the info.

Oops, my apologies. The Y-connector DOES charge your iPod/iPhone but the regular white cable does not (if I'm not mistaken).
