It's their opinion, not based on actual tests. Another thread on these boards showed dyno results from an n55 that indicated 300hp at the wheels. I think it's only reasonable to wait to see more data before drawing conclusions.

I'd have a hard time believing that the n55/twin-scroll turbo was maxed out, straight from the factory.
I might believe that upping the boost above stock could add turbo lag.

^^^ those "max PSI" numbers are from the factory boost, correct? cause we all know people are pushing more than 15lbs on the N54 and i hope to god/assume the N55 can handle more than 10 ... right?

Kind of a pointless argument. All of the test drives and magazines come with ina few tenths of a second to the same numbers. Plus its not real time 0-60 times. Its dump the clutch at 3-4000 rpms and hope you dont smoke the tires too much 0-60 time.

yea, I think under normal boost, the IS runs 11.x and with sport button it runs just under 15 but it won't sustain the 15.

On the dyno the N55 vs N54 performance is the same. On the street, I read that the N55 is actually quite laggy (read the BMS statements on this forum) and this could influence the 0-60 time. However, if using the launch control feature of the DCT the engine may start at max boost which could suppress the lag.

The new S4 is a positive bad-ass. Wonderful interior too.

I think you are "joining in" a wrong conversation. This just a thread to determine what the new 0 to 60 time of a 2011 335i. If we are going to be talking about random cars with a random subject, then you can take a similarly priced corvette which will obliterate your S4. But this is not the point here. |
