BMW INSURANCE- how much do you pay?

Is $1200 every 6months good for full coverage insurance with uninsured motorist, $25,000 property damage,$50,000 bodily injury, free car rental
Etc. I'm curious what do you all pay?

This year most insurance are upping there rates on bmw's, Mercedes etc.
My rate was up about $400 from last year I'm with Mercury

Post year and model of your car please and insurance company if possible thanks

I use the Liberty Mutual BMW Performance Insurance. I pay about $1050 a year now for for my 2007 Z4 Coupe. I have a $500 deductible, $100k bodily injury, $100k property damage, and all the usual rental and towing stuff. I have been very happy with them and plan to use them when I get my new 2012 135i in April. My rate will increase to about $1350 a year with the same coverage on the new vehicle.

I am 38 with a clean driving record in NC.

Wow! Those are some nice rates.

I pay premium of about $260 per month:
Myself (25) + Wife (24)
Deductible $1000
I think that's a lot.

Glad this thread was made. There are many ways to approach this. Different states have different coverage minimums, as well as based on your region rates can vary. For example paying 1200 in NYC for 6 months with full coverage would be a great rate, where as if you were paying 1200 in middle of no where PA would be considered a bad rate.
There is also a factor of your driving record, other drivers, # of vehicles on the policy etc.

also another quick piece of advise, just because Liberty Mutual says they have an exclusive BMW discount, does not even mean they are actually competitive to other carriers within the market.

Car insurance premiums vary greatly even from town to town. It's completely pointless to compare rates unless you live in the same building, have the same driving record, share the same marital status, same credit score, etc. It's just never going to be apples to apples.

One thing I will add is that it's totally pointless to pay up for a low deductible. You'd be a fool to make a claim for anything under $1,000 anyway so why waste your money paying up? Anyone paying to have a deductible under $1,000 is wasting their hard earned money.

I would like to say that I agree but unfortunately there is no rhyme or reason when it comes to insurance rates, you will get what you will get.

About $450/yr for the X5 and the same for the Z4. $100k/$300k, $500 deductible. Wifey's Civic (her choice of car, not mine) is slightly less. We have our homeowner's through the same company, so we get decent rates. Insurance is cheap in downstate IL. We'd be paying 3x that on each car back in MA.

And as far as wasting money on low deductibles, in our case going to $1000 would have made very little difference in our yearly costs. Wifey just had a fender bender in a parking lot and they split the blame, so her deductible really came to $250 (some weird IL law). If we had had a $1000 deductible, it would have been $500. Having the deductible that high would not have saved us $500 in insurance payments even after all these years.

714.00 per year from Trafalgar, for a 2006 Z4 si. 1 million liability coverage, 1000.00 deductible on collision, 250.00 deductible on comprehensive.

1 million and 2 million are pretty common amounts for liability coverage up here - doesn't seem to be very common in the U.S. from what's posted so far?

Totally true. Everyone should shop around for their best price and if you have insurance on multiple items like boats and houses too, combining the policies in one company gets you more discounts usually.

I think the discount is either 5 or 10% off the normal rate so it is not huge, but the peace of mind that comes from making sure I get an original BMW replacement part vs. some random Chinese item in an accident made it worth it. Other agencies I contacted could match their rate for me and sometimes do a little better, 50-60 bucks a year, but none would offer me the same deal on parts.

It really depends on three things: your age, your location and your driving history (tickets / accidents). I would talk to friends who live in the area and decide who you want quotes from.
I requote every 6 months if my rates go up.
Here in Texas on 3 vehicles one driver, I pay $1,115 every 6 months with higher coverage limits. Coverage on the 2011 135i is $490 every 6 months currently. You have-to shop it.
