But, I disagree in that I do not think the stock M3 brakes look shitty. They don't perform as I'd like them to on the track, but I personally do not think they look shitty.
I do think my previous 335i brakes did look shitty though...but I don't think a 335i is a high end car. Heck, even the M3 is borderline "high end" IMO.
I generally reserve that term for a Porsche C2S, Noble, R8, Aston Martin etc ($100k price point) ; but this is purely personal opinion.

I agree with you, hence why I specifically said: "who pays retail?"

My M3 also retailed for close to $90k when you factor in tax.... no way I'd pay that for a M3, that's a little steep.
The 335i isn't a high end car, but it's nicer than the Subaru STi which comes standard with Brembos. It's also nicer than the Hyundai Genesis and the Nissan 370Z which come standard or have the option.

I also don't quote retail. But glad we're on the same page =)

Yeah, in that sense (comparing them a 335i to a STI/Z), i see what you mean

But I do believe they're built for a different audience. I personally see dozens of Zs, STIs, EVOs at the track.
But rarely rarely so I see Non-M 3s at the track . I guess the marketing department hopes to change that! I'd love to see more 3s at the track

It's interesting you bring this up. It's a tiwn turbo 300HP inline 6 compared to the 4 cylinder turbo STi or EVO. It allowed a ton of people to hop into a really nice and powerful BMW with a ton of potential for under $50k. It depends on the audience for sure, but I bought it to see what it can do in the 1/4 mile and maybe some auto cross here and there =).

I also like that you can set yourself apart from the rest. Some still think my car is an M3 lol.

I still regret, to this day, that I didn't take my 335i to the track. I had all the bolt ons available at the time but never took it out on the track to "feel" it... :/. O well. At least I'm enjoying my M3

F30 Brakes

As someone that has owned my share of M cars, I guess I'll chime in.

One of the simplest things to do to any BMW with floating calipers is to go to a brass bushing and toss the rubber. The bushings eliminate to torquing of the calipers and allows an even bite across the pad. When the rubber caliper bushings wear, they allow way to much flex.

A BBK works fine if you plan to track a car. On the street it's bling factor and that's about it. Braking performance is measured in how fast you can dump heat as it builds up, clamping force, and swept area.

There are people that switch to floating rotors and upgrade the guides on factory calipers and get good pads and do perfectly acceptable track days.

Quite frankly, I think the "M" brand was tainted after the e30 M3 (Flame suit on). It was a purpose built car for European Touring Car. It was hand assembled and they on made about 14K units worldwide. That WAS and M-Car just about everything since has been a poser.

Anyway, I like the e9x M3, but I bought a 335i Sedan.
Where can I get some bling brakes???? 8-)
