2 ipods stolen :(

hey, just returned to my car n found my ipod classic had been stolen... thats the second time in 6 months! (..and unfortunately this time the theives were kind enough to cut the interface cable! - cant believe they couldnt just press the 2 release buttons!! )

no windows/ doors were broken, so im just wondering is it that ive stupidly left the car unlocked (i have been extra careful after the first time!) or is it possible that someone has jacked the unlock signal from key or something?? (Do you guys always lock yours in the glove?)

Geez, that stinks. Probably a drug addict if you ask me, otherwise they'd be wise enough to unplug the ipod instead of cut the cord.

I'm pretty sure you can change the lock settings to give you a visual and/or audible indicator when the car is locked. You might want to turn all the settings to on so its clear when it has locked. This way you don't hit the fob and think it locked when in reality it didn't. Signal range can be kinda poor, so it does happen.

The auto lock feature is meant to re-lock the car if you inadvertently unlock it after locking it. If the unlock button is pushed but a door isn't opened within a minute or two, it will relock automatically. Nice feature to protect you from accidently pushing the unlock button when you're putting the fob in your pocket as you're walking away.
This does not lock the car routinely, only relock it after unlock without a door opening.

I normally use the CA to lock and listen for the beep and as I walk away I turn back to see if the clown nose is blinking. It's a habit.

I checked this morning. I don't have any audio option. Thats why I thought the audio option comes from the Alarm!!! All I have is flash lights when locking / flash lights when unlocking. Am I missing something? This deserves a thread by itself....

Had a valet inside a secure Studio Lot steal my new iPod from me then 3 month old car about a year ago.... Damn Valets!!!

At least I got all the valets that worked that morning fired from that lot. Still annoying though.

I have left the car unlocked a couple of times and have been lucky to not have anything stolen. The E46 I had previously left no doubt when you locked it. The locking mechanism made a loud noise when it locked which I used to think was annoying. Now I would love to have it back. A lot of times I wind up walking back to my car to make sure I locked it.
