I gotta admit, I hate the fact that I smoke, I hate how I smell after I smoke, I regret starting it when I was young and dumb.
I plan on quitting, but im not in a hurry. I will do so when Im fully ready.


Now, I recently started smoking lighter cigarettes. ex. Marlboro Red to Malboro Ultra Lights.
I know there was a lawsuit regarding this issue.
I think conclusion came down to, "Lighter cigs are more harmful, or just as bad as stronger cigs".

Now, I've reading some articles and researched a bit on this but more and more I research, more confused I am. Here are few "facts" i've read online.

- Lighter cigs(less tar, less nicotine) has more "chemicals" in them, which makes it more dangerous to smoke. Yes/No?

a. If Yes, does that mean lighter cigs, whether you smoke less or not, is more harmful than stronger cigs?

b. If No, does that mean smoking one pack of Marlboro Light is SAFER than smoking one pack of Marlboro Red? (assuming you smoked same number of cigs during a equal duration of period)


- Reason why lighter cigs are just as bad, is because people have tendancy to inhale more when smoking lighter cigarettes(bigger puffs). Yes/No?

a. If Yes, does that mean if you don't inhale more with lighter cigs(same inhale habit as smoking stronger cigs), its safer?



Im REALLY CONFUSED. AHHHHHHHHH.

I understand that eitherway, smoking is dangerous and harmful.
I just want to know whats safer for now, helps me sleep better at night.

I don't think 'light' cigarettes are less hamrful than regular, its just a matter of marketing and flavor variety. 'Regular' cigarettes have a lot of additives as well. Only a select few pack of smokes claim to be all natural.

I personally hate those ultra light cigarettes. But I could see your reasoning in pulling more on lights and ultra lights versus regular sticks. I also think its how they pack the tobacco per stick.

I just recently quit. I started off the first few days by cutting down to a couple of sticks a day then cold turkey. I never looked back. I don't miss it, I don't crave it anymore and it has been barely 2 months. I surmised my smoking was mostly habitual rather than nicotine dependency.

try chantix, I loved to smoke didn't want to quit at all, but I have a 3 year old that I would like to see grow up. So my doctor said for me to try it. I had the scriped in my pocket for a week. Then I got it filled and had the pils for a weekor so. Then I just started taking it and in 8 days it will be one year since I had a ciggy.
Apparently it works for 40% which is alot,

I'm pretty sure that the tobacco that goes into regular, lights, and ultra lights are all the same. The difference comes in the perforations in the filters. The lighter the cigarette, the more air is let in through the filter to dilute the smoke and give it a lighter taste.

For that reason, they are equally as harmful.

Let's put it this way. There is nothing that regulates what they can put in cigarettes.

Other than federal regulations of narcotics, cig makers can put practically anything in their product.

Almost the same way McDonald's does.

As for stopping... I smoked American Spirit Lights for about 3 months before I stopped cold turkey... that helped me adjust to the reduced chemicals so my quit wasn't as bad... but quiting still sucks big time... but it's more worth it than you can ever imagine...

Congrats friend!! I wish more people with kids would do the same thing for their kids sake.
Nothing upsets me more then seeing a car with kids and both or a parent smoking with the windows rolled up. Poor kids never have a chance.

i smoked eclipse cigarettes for a few months. theyre really interesting cigarettes, but in all honesty, theyre terrible (lol) after a while. now im sticking to my 27s. i really really would love to quit though. but as someone said above, its more of a habitual thing than a dependency on the nicotine (although i love feeling that dry rush when im stressed)
