Well, Carfax costs money to do, unless the seller provides it for free, so I doubt anyone will "help you out" in that sense. But it is really easy to do yourself. Just go to http://www.carfax.com/ and enter the VIN into the box where it asks on the main page and click on "search".

"so I doubt anyone will "help you out" in that sense" < this is not entirely accurate. There are plenty of folks on here that got the hook up and willing to help.

here is an example: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...ghlight=carfax

ill do it for you if you can wait till thursday when get back to work..

btw car fax and these other car checkers... do not work. only about 20% or less show accidents flood or roll backs.

if you really want to know what the car has wrong take it to a carmax near you and ask for all data

Carfax is almost useless, so beware. I had two cars that were each in a major accident, and neither showed up on Carfax (I checked). The bodyshop guys rarely enter the information. With a service like that, if it's not 100% reliable, it's useless. Have the car checked by the dealer or a good mechanic.

+1 sort of. I wouldn't call the service useless. My Ridgeline was involved in an accident and it shows up as 1 incident in the free, non-detailed report. I definitely would not depend solely on carfax as my basis for determining if a car is clean or not, but it's a good start.
