Im sure everyone was searched thoroughly before being allowed in the room. And the secret service knew they were on tv. Im sure that the secret service is smart enough to not shoot and kill people who throw shoes.

I wonder what the penalty is for that anyway?

You have a point there too. America's image would be completely destroyed if a reporter was shot on TV, especially for throwing a shoe. Nonetheless, I was surprised on their handling of the situation.

Let me put it this way... if this was 6 months from now and Obama had a shoe thrown at his head in the same situation would it still be hilarious?
