Hikes in Los Angeles area
Anyone know of any great hikes in the LA area?
i use to go to runyon a lot. I am going to start going again but also want to change it up that way i stay motivated and try not to get bored of the same spot. I also see a lot of BMW in the parking lot of runyon. Who goes? |

I like loop trails a lot more than in and outs. Among my favorites in the area is the La Jolla Canyon trail off of PCH way out near Mugu Rock - about a 6-7 mile loop with maybe 1500 ft altitude gain. Starting up higher in the Santa Monicas the Mishe Mokwa loop trail is a similar length with a bit less altitude gain. Both give really nice views of the surrounding terrain. If you're looking for a bit easier, loop hikes of varying lengths can be found in my backyard of Wildwood Park in Thousand Oaks or Rancho Satwiwa in Newbury Park.
