Regardless of who holds office in the white house or what majority is in Congress a few things are certain:

-The debt will continue to rise
-A false prosperity brought on by debt and money printing will continue

You do realize that in order to start actually chipping away at the debt and fiscal gap something like a 50% cut in ALL govt spending and 50% taxes on ALL citizens would need to be implemented. Who would support that?

We are over 16T in debt, with a fiscal gap of over 100T. Yet the gov't almost shut down last year over 30B. Laughable.

Agree that there are some areas where they would govern similarly, but there are many areas where the differences would be huge.

One example - supreme court appointments. If you like Citizens United and don't want women to have the right to choose, go Romney.
If you want a war with Iran, go Romney.
If you want the disparity between rich and poor to continue to widen, go Romney.
If most your income comes from capital gains and dividends and you want to save big $$$ on taxes, go Romney.

Most of us in the middle class will be much better off with Obama. He is from the middle class, he understands the middle class and he works hard for the middle class. Romney morphed into Mr. Middle Class just before his performance in the 1st debate. It was an act because he was losing. He expressed his true beliefs about the middle class when he made his 47% comments in front of his rich donors.

Anyways, since im in a state that is solid blue and my vote is essentially irrelevant, ill vote for gary johnson. If I were in a swing state, id vote for Romney, though I wouldnt be happy about it. The hyper-keynesian/salt water domestic policy of the last 4-6 years has been disasterous.

I too am amazed that this has remained civil. I hope it stays that way.

What has been disastrous is letting Wall Street run without appropriate regulations from 2000-2008, 2 wars, tax cuts for the rich and a prescription drug plan that was not funded. All of that led to the financial collapse that Obama handled with great skill. But he's getting blamed for taking too long to fix everything. Avoiding disaster required spending lots of money. So we have lots of debt. The alternative would have been a huge depression.

So the economy is recovering, but slowly, too slowly for most people. So they say: "Let's give the money guy - Romney - a chance. He'll make things worse because he believes in the same trickle down bullshit that Reagan and Bush did. Even David Stockman, Reagan's financial guy, says trickle down doesn't work.

They fail to realize the extend of the mess he inherited and just how well he handled the situation. Bottom line is we are much better off now than we were in 2008. And if Obama get reelected, we will be much better off in 2016 than we are now.

congress.

Why vote to keep putting millionaires in office?

Like the guy said above, "What about other party candidates?". I read a book
a while back that recommended doing just that. The major parties *do* look
at those numbers and modify their positions accordingly. Not by much, but
a bit.

If more people would have the guts to "throw away" (as many see it) their
vote on a non-major party candidate, there may be some hope of this
country making the changes that must be made.

Well, I'm not in the Romney camp, per se. But I'd vote for him simply because getting rid of "the last guy" in the persidency is basically the only thing the American voter can do these days. At best, there is SOME choice during the respective Democratic and Republican primaries. But for the actual vote for the presidency? Nah. Neither of these guys represent me. And if anything good bfealls me due to any action that either of them might take, I will assume it's purely coincidental. Their decisions are really made to benefit their paymasters—who are most definitely not the American public.

Constantly switching between Democrats and Republicans is the only "check" that the public has any more...pathetic though it may be.

Exactly what happened with enough folks voting for Nader in 2000 to result in Bush's election.

I’m the middle class and regardless of what party is in the Oval Office doing whatever I just keep paying the bill……..so at the end of the day I vote the ticket that will best suit me and that can change from one election to another………..but what never changes is the bill I keep paying to give whoever their shot at makings things their definition of better.
