335 V2 vs Shelby GT500
I'm thinking about racing my friends GT500 stock. We we're talking about it. I'm getting my V2 in about 2-3 days and then it might happen.
I was looking at dragtimes.com and the 1/4 mile times are kinda conflicting. From 13.4 to low 12's. Weird! ![]() I have a full cat-back exhaust (no secondary cats) and V2 soon. So my car should, theoretically, run mid 12's. Anyone ever raced one of these things before?

Those cars are a nasty straight line machine. You'll tear him in the twisties, as per Top Gear's horrible rating on their handling. I say get some DP, appropriate V2.0.2 map (should be out soon), and give him hell. If not, you should be able to hold your own without DP and 2.0.2. I am not a PROcede expert, as I am waiting on Helix to release their tune, but give it a try!

Just race him and have fun with it. If you lose...oh no...you got the Bimmer.

I lost by around 2-4 CLs from 20-120, but i'm bone stock. I'd imagine 1.47 would be able to to beat it in a close fashion with V2 leaving it in the dust.

It could be close; I think he's got to be a great driver to equal the 0-60mph and 1/4 mi. times that the car mags got for the GT500...I believe those 'stangs are a bit more difficult to handle than our 335i's. I say with PROcede v2 and your exhaust, you'll take him by at least 2 CLs. It's worth a friendly run if done safely.
btw -- C&D got 4.5 sec. 0-60mph and 12.9 sec. @ 112mph 1/4 mi. for the 500BHP GT500 Cobra... http://www.caranddriver.com/comparis...lby-gt500.html Your PROcede v2 335i should be a bit faster than that...like I said above, even if he's a great driver, then you should still beat him by ~ 2 CLs. ![]()

Perfection Is In The Details

Ya, you will take him for sure. It will be all about the launch. GT500s are hard to launch right. Too low rpm's and u stutter off the start, too high rpm's and they spin the tires. I think a stock gt500 with a good driver will have trouble running under 13 flat. So lets say he launches good, he still wont run under a 12.8. But hurry up, because if he throws a new belt on that supercharger you are game over. haha

The Shelby has a traction and weight problem. Once it gets up to speed, where the tires should hold, it runs into somewhat of a drag problem. It needs a few mods to overcome these issues at higher speeds. With a few more ponies (pun intended), it walks away at higher speeds.

One word comes to mind...NASTY! The guy I was running with was very cool and babying the car down the track to a 12.85@109ish w/2.10 60ft. That tells you the potential of those cars. I beat him once. That was when I went 13.27@103.3... he had a horrible launch and was unable to hook up. I knew this would happen after I made a burn-out from the water box to just across the starting line. I think he got a bit anxious and probably thought I had turned up the boost...I'm bone stock. Good luck to you...run em hard!

I'm running PROcede V2 and Catless Exhaust. I'm confident that I can give him a good race.

I don't want to take a wee in your cheerios...but have your stuff together. If the guy can drive you'll be fighting for your life. If the gentleman I ran had shown up with his DR's...thank goodness he left them at home. I would have received an embarrasing public flogging. It wouldn't have even been close! Are you running him on the track or the highway?
