A report out of Car and Driver claims that the the BMW i3, BMW’s first electric vehicle, will start at approximately $35,000. The i3′s power, range and top speed will be 150hp, 160 miles, and 100mph, respectively.
Even more stats are provided by their “deep inside source in Munchen [Munich]” – luggage room is supposed to be a large-for-its-size 14.1 cubic feet, split between trunk and the under-hood space.
Now that spyshots of the BMW i3 have been plenty, it’s not difficult to imagine what the production i3 will resemble. That’s what Car and Driver’s artist has done here, in this render of an i3 which they call “Scion xD meets the scoundrel pigs from Angry Birds.”

BMW i news on a roll today. Just moments after the first ever BMW i8 spy shots, here are the first ever BMW i3 spyhots. The BMW i3 is the production version of BMW’s long-awaited Mega City Vehicle.
The BMW i3 will hit the market in 2013 and targets an annual sale of at least 30,000 units.
According to Ian Robertson of BMW, the company appears to be targetting annual i3 sales of at least 30,000 units by drawing a production target comparison to lower-volume Mini models (such as the Clubman, of which 30,000 were sold globally in 2010). Meanwhile, the i8′s pricing remains to be determined, based on future legislation (and no doubt any tax breaks for green vehicles).

BMW just announced its new sub-brand – the BMW i. The first two cars of the new brand will be the BMW i3 and the BMW i8. The i3 is the production version of the Mega City Vehicle, the i8 the production version of the Vision Efficient Dynamics. Both cars will be built at the Leipzig Plant. The i3 launches in 2013, the i8 shortly after.
Saturday evening saw the launch of teaser communications for the new BMW sub-brand. Light installations and video projections illuminated BMW Group buildings around the Petuelring road in the north of Munich. The four-cylinder building, BMW Welt and BMW Museum were bathed in the colours of BMW i.
The new BMW sub-brand itself was launched at today’s press conference in the BMW Welt. The print campaign for BMW i will initially feature two motifs.

BMW AG has officially filed a registration for a new trademark and logo for their project-i vehicles such as the electric Megacity car and hybrid Vision EfficientDynamics sports car. The trademarks i1, i2, i3, i4, i5, i6, i7, i8, and i9 have also been registered.
New trademarks registered by BMW gives some insight into new model lineups that will eventually be added to BMW’s offerings. The new names include: i1, i2, i3, i4, i5, i6, i7, i8, i9, E1, E2, E3, E4, E5, E6, E7, E8, E9, M50d, Urbanic, Gran Coupe, Compactive, and Compactive Tourer.
