Color us unsurprised. At the M Night last Thursday, BMW pulled the wraps off the M3 CRT (Carbon Racing Technology). As we reported, it’s the most focused E90 M3 version yet, making use of innovative carbon fiber production technology. Powered by a 450hp 4.4L version of the award winning S65 V8 engine and exclusively painted in Frozen Polar Silver, production of the M3 CRT is limited to only 67 units.
Well, it now appears that 67 people were willing to spend at least EUR 130,000 for this … CONTINUED
The Nurburgring 24 Hour Race has just recently concluded and the BMW No.1 M3 has managed to make the podium with a second place finish! Porsche managed to take the top spot. The No.1 M3 GT managed to consistently move up positions throughout the race. At the 12-13 hour mark, the No.1 M3 was still running 5th, but by the 14th hour, the M3 had moved up to the number 2 position.

A 1addicts member was lucky enough to prepare for his 1M delivery later this year by attending the BMW M Drive Tour on the Fontage Track in the south of France near BMW’s Miramas test track, courtesy of his gracious dealer. Many varieties of M were available for the tour including multiple 1M coupes, M3, X6M, etc. Check out his on track experience via videos and photos.
Our coverage from M Festival continues. BMW had an awesome lineup of cars at display during M Night, but besides the new M3 CRT and the new M5, there were also the M3 GT2 race car, an E46 M3 GTR and the E90 M3 Ring Taxi on display.

BMW M Festival has officially kicked off tonight with M Night, where we participated in the first public viewing of the 2012 BMW M5 and the just revealed BMW M3 CRT [Official Info Thread].
The event took place in BMW’s building at the Nurburgring track. The building itself had stadium seating on the side of the building facing the track to observe cars and races running on the famed ‘ring’. The event took place on the ground level in the event hall.

Just announced: the BMW M3 CRT lightweight sedan with enhanced power! Weighing in at only 3,483 pounds and powered by an upgraded 450hp V8, this lightweight E90 M3 sedan features BMW’s latest CFRP production process. The M3 CRT is 100 pounds lighter than the standard E90 M3 sedan and 154 pounds lighter when the equipment on board is taken into account.

The current BMW E90 generation is soon coming to an end, including the E90 M3 sedan. Based on the official BMW production schedule (see below), all E90 3-series and E90 M3 sedan production will cease in October 2011. M3 coupe and convertible fans have some more time, however. The E92 M3 and E93 M3 will continue to be produced until at least June 2012 (along with the 3-series coupe and convertible). We previously reported that the famous E60 M5 ring taxi would be replaced by the M3. Here it is – the new ring taxi is now a E90 M3 and available for rides. Unfortunately, it appears that, as expected, Sabine Schmitz is no longer the ring taxi driver. It is now driven by the instructors from the BMW Driving Experience program – much like it used to be in past years.

The C63 AMG Coupe debuted recently to much buzz because it represents Mercedes’ best direct competitor to the BMW M3 coupe yet. Autobild has printed their first drive impressions comparing the two German sports coupes, and have also thrown in the RS5 coupe to include all 3 similar offerings from Germany’s top 3 luxury makes.
