BIMMERPOST sponsored this past weekend’s Airstrip Attack, a runway shootout race event held at the Trona Airport near Death Valley, California. The event saw some of the most powerful European, Domestic, and Japanese cars from California go head-to-head on a half mile stretch of tarmac. The classes ranged from 400hp+ all the way to 1000hp+.

The following race featured an ESS VT650 Arkym Supercharged BMW M3 vs. a Porsche 911 997 Twin Turbo (w/ upgraded turbos). Full specs of the cars are listed in the video.

Matt Farah (of Tuned) drives and reviews VF Engineering’s 700hp Supercharged BMW M3 (VF620). This M3 features a VF Engineering VF620 supercharger with KW 2 way Adjustable Club Sport Coilover kit w/ Front Camber Plates. Brakes are AP Racing – AP7100 368mm 6-piston Front Big Brake Kit and AP Racing – AP7150 356mm 4-piston Rear Big Brake Kit. Exhaust is Akrapovic Titanium Evolution Slip-On Exhaust System and Challenge X-Pipe Race+ (Catless), Stainless Steel.

The 555hp X5 M is fast, but not faster than the M3 around a track. That is unless it puts it capabilities to creative uses. Watch one way the X5 M with its AWD w/ torque vectoring rear differential can beat the M3 around turns on a track ;)

Stunning photoshoot of a stunning color – Java Green Metallic E92 M3 Competition coupe with a color matched BMW S1000 RR superbike. This color first appeared on an M3 at the BMW Niederlassung München dealership in Munich, Germany.

Besides the unique eye catching exterior paint, it also features beautiful interior contrast stitching in matching green. The Individual exterior paint costs approximately EUR 4,700 and the contrast stitching EUR 4,950.

From Tuesday to Thursday the BMW drivers completed a total of 969 laps, amounting to almost 4,000 kilometres. Andy Priaulx (GB), Augusto Farfus (BR), Bruno Spengler (CA), Martin Tomczyk (DE), Dirk Werner (DE) and Marco Wittmann (DE) were all in action. Test and development driver Wittmann took the place of Joey Hand (US), who was on duty for BMW Team RLL in Sebring (US) as it continued its preparations for the 2012 American Le Mans Series.
