Dallas-Ft.Worth M3POST members gathered this weekend to attend the DFW Cars and Coffee event in what seems to have been an extremely well attended event with the impressive array of exotics, muscle cars, and other automotive enthusiasts’ favorites that one comes to expect from the C&C events. Has BMW M lost its direction? Seem so according to Kay Segler, chief of BMW’s M brand. He has recently let on that the M brand needs to shift directions – to make M young again. Segler’s goal “is to go towards affordability and freshness.” More inside.
Some new M3 GTS production details have come to light. In total, 125 M3 GTS units will be built. 45 will be destined for Europe, 80 for the rest of the world. The GTS will be produced in two series: first at the end of this year and second one early 2011. More info inside.
The BMW Rahal Letterman Racing Team will field two BMW M3s at the 58th annual 12 Hours of Sebring ALMS race on March 20th. The drivers of the M3s are ecstatic for the team’s second year of racing, as seen in this video interview with the 4 drivers – Joey Hand, Dirk M
The latest installment of BMW’s JOY marketing campaign features their motorsport division – specifically the BMW GT at Sebring ALMS. The Rahal Letterman race team is featured.
Steve Dinan introduces their latest creation, the Dinan S3-R M3, a stroker 4.6L V8 527hp/407lb-ft E92 M3. The larger displacement engine is complimented by an underdrive pulley, high flow intake, high flow throttle body, middle racing exhaust, and high flow exhaust. Handling upgrades include a CF strut brace, Dinan wheels, F/R spring perch, short progressive bump stops, larger, front anti-sway bar, racing rear toe links, Brembo 6 piston front calipers and 4 piston rear calipers, with slotted rotors.
The a-workx M3 won its saloon class at the 2009 Tuner Grand Prix over competitors such as C63 AMGs, proving that the M3 with some modest handling upgrades can beat out even HP monsters on the track.

In Jan. we reported on Pencilgeek’s (of M3post) quest to hit 200mph in his supercharged E92 M3 at the Mojave Mile. The run was made this past weekend and while he did not hit 200mph, he was able to achieve 181.8 mph on stock wheels/tires! See inside for videos and a review of the entire experience.
