The first three G-power M3 GTS have arrived and their engine displacements have been bored to an increase of 10% and rebuilt with low-compression forged pistons. This extra displacement, combined with a specially tuned version of their SK II CS supercharger system, has resulted in 720hp! This represents an increase of 270hp over the factory M3 GTS (450hp). How much faster this catapults the car from the factory figures (4.4 sec 0-100km/h and 305km/h) is not yet known, but will surely be announced in due time.

The Chinese have previously seen a special edition M3 exclusive to their market – in the form of the M3 Tiger Edition. Apparently demand was good enough to warrant yet another special edition – the M3 Matte Edition

Like most of the other special M3 edition models, this one is cosmetics only – concentrating on the exterior color finish. The exterior will be offered in gunmetal gray or black, each in a metallic matte finish (achieved by combining a metallic finish with a matte clear coat). The other unique cosmetic styling bits include black chrome side M gills and exhaust pipes, and red brake calipers. A BMW Performance shift knob is also included.

Interior styling includes carbon fiber trim with matching black carbon fiber leather seats with contrasting … CONTINUED

Autoblog now has definitive confirmation that the M3 pickup is BMW’s 2011 April Fool’s Joke (last year featured their Political Roundel Attachment Tag gag). According to Autoblog: In a chat with BMW’s Munich head of product communications, Dirk Arnold, he offered up this quote: “Ah, yes, everyone’s been talking about that pickup. But, no, this is… how you call it, an April Fool’s Joke” [in German "Aprilscherz" - ed.]. There will be no M3 pickup in our futures, kids. But then Arnold sort of overcommunicated to us by dangling one of those “…in this generation” qualifiers. He then also managed to immediately clarify, “It is hugely doubtful that BMW will ever during our lives produce such a vehicle, in any segment.” Oh, pooh.
