Some beautiful photos of some serious M hardware, an E30 M3 with S38 M5 engine swap and an ESS Supercharged E92 M3 coupe. Here are some details on the cars.
Updated with more info on E30: Job started late Nov 2010 started on the engine swap we have dropped in 1992 BMW ///M5 (E28) S38 3.6l engine. *not e36 m3 * We striped this motor all the way down the block and converted to 3.8l stroker, ported the block for stroker build high compression all … CONTINUED
This is a project that many M3POST members have been following for quite some while now. It’s the build process and results for a low compression option for the M3 S65 engine which allows it to run a 10:1 compression ratio (compared to factory 12:1 ratio). And why is that a good thing? The lower compression ratio allows the use of higher boost (via supercharger) safely on pump fuel.
German car magazine Sport Auto hosts an annual event called the Tuner Gran Prix (or Tuner Wars as some call it). Nearly every major German car tuner attends, along with some smaller private teams. The atmosphere is more like a club racing event than a high stress professional race, with lots of rare and expensive cars thrown in!
Fastest car around the Hockenheimring track wins. And also they had a drifting challenge in the SACH’s curve right in front of the grand stands. It … CONTINUED
Here’s a first. Ever wonder how the M3 would look with a 1M style front? Well it’s now been done. LTBMW has fitted this E92 M3 coupe with a front bumper in the style of the 1M coupe, complete with functional air curtain vents!
BMW enthusiasts and tuners gathered for the 2012 Bimmerfest event yesterday at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, CA.
BMW may have produced the MiniE and ActiveE (electric versions of the Mini Cooper and the 1 Series Coupe), but EV West, a California conversion shop decided to electrify a more performance based nameplate – the M3… the E36 M3 to be exact.
EV West took a 1995 BMW M3 and replaced its 6 cylinder 240hp S52 engine with a NetGain DC electric motor and Evnetics Soliton Shiva motor controller, packing 420 totally green horsepowers!
For its first real test, this M3 will compete in “electric” heat of … CONTINUED

Check out the photo coverage inside, featuring hundreds of photos from the event.
Here are some great photos from last weekend’s 2012 Bimmers N Boardwalk event and meet. The event saw over 70 BMWs in attendance which were lined up and sorted by color, allowing for some great photos.

VAC Motorsports has put together an impressive dedicated M3 track car build for a customer, in which they managed to drop several hundred pounds off the factory M3′s weight – to just 3200 pounds.

We’ve seen all variety of frozen (matte) colors on BMWs since the trend started a couple of years ago, but this is the first time we’ve seen it in one of our favorite BMW blues of all time – Estoril Blue.
What makes this color on the car even more unique is that it wasn’t achieved with a vinyl wrap, which has been the preferred method for applying a matte color to a car, but was actually a full respray of the car.
Other modifications on … CONTINUED
We’ve previously featured an Atacama Yellow M3 sedan and now here’s the first E93 M3 convertible in Atacama Yellow.
Atacama yellow is currently only available on the Z4 and must be ordered as a BMW Individual color for any other models, including the M3. The yellow looks great against the contrasting carbon fiber and black aero piece and wheels. Check out the full set of photos inside.
We’ve seen some major conversions and projects from our 1 series owners and this is one of the best yet. One 1ADDICTS member has taken his E82 120d and converted it into a 1M-bodied car with the S65 V8 engine from the M3!!
In addition to the engine transplant, the car had to have custom bodywork on rear fenders, 1M body panels fitted, M3/1M suspension fitted, exhaust made to fit the new body, and 1M 19″ wheels. The icing on the cake was retrofitting the … CONTINUED
