This is a project that many M3POST members have been following for quite some while now. It’s the build process and results for a low compression option for the M3 S65 engine which allows it to run a 10:1 compression ratio (compared to factory 12:1 ratio). And why is that a good thing? The lower compression ratio allows the use of higher boost (via supercharger) safely on pump fuel.
German car magazine Sport Auto hosts an annual event called the Tuner Gran Prix (or Tuner Wars as some call it). Nearly every major German car tuner attends, along with some smaller private teams. The atmosphere is more like a club racing event than a high stress professional race, with lots of rare and expensive cars thrown in!

Here’s a first. Ever wonder how the M3 would look with a 1M style front? Well it’s now been done. LTBMW has fitted this E92 M3 coupe with a front bumper in the style of the 1M coupe, complete with functional air curtain vents!
BMW enthusiasts and tuners gathered for the 2012 Bimmerfest event yesterday at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, CA.
BMW may have produced the MiniE and ActiveE (electric versions of the Mini Cooper and the 1 Series Coupe), but EV West, a California conversion shop decided to electrify a more performance based nameplate - the M3… the E36 M3 to be exact.
EV West took a 1995 BMW M3 and replaced its 6 cylinder 240hp S52 engine with a NetGain DC electric motor and Evnetics Soliton Shiva motor controller, packing 420 totally green horsepowers!
For its first real test, this M3 will compete in “electric” heat of this year’s Pikes Peak International Hill Climb in Colorado (also known as the “90th Race to the Clouds”). It will be competing against 6 other electric cars in its race heat, but none are based off a conventional car like … CONTINUED
The 2012 Eurofest took place this past weekend at the The New Meadowlands Stadium in New Jersey (where the Jets and Giants call home). Cars of all European makes and models were in attendance, but the scene appeared to be dominated by BMWs.

VAC Motorsports has put together an impressive dedicated M3 track car build for a customer, in which they managed to drop several hundred pounds off the factory M3’s weight - to just 3200 pounds.
