If you’re an M5 and manual transmission fan then this current F10 M5 generation will be your last chance to own the combination. BMW M’s head of engineering, Albert Biermann let on this week to Insideline that there are no plans to fit the next generation M5 or M6 with a manual transmission. Manual transmission is currently offered as a no-cost option for the F10 M5 in North America (only) and will likely become an option for the F12/F13 M6 as well.
The reasoning is as expected – the manual’s low take rates do not justify its development costs. According to Biermann, “Last year, maybe 15-20 percent of our M5s in the U.S. were manuals and maybe this year it will be 15 percent. It’s declining.” He … CONTINUED
The GruppeM Ram Air Intake System for the BMW F10 M5 has officially been released. The carbon fiber air intake system’s dyno graph shows peak gains of +15 HP and +30 lb-ft torque over stock.
A BMW Driving Academy event was recently held at the famous Autodromo Nazionale Monza (Monza Track) which is located near the town of Monza, north of Milan, in Italy. The circuit’s biggest event is the Formula One Italian Grand Prix, but a fleet of BMWs recently took over the track for the BMW Driving Academy.
Available for the driving experience at the academy were many F30 3 series (with E90/E92 3 series for comparison), the F10 M5, the F12 M6 convertible, M550d xDrive 5 Series sedan, X5 M, and refreshed X6 Ms.

The F10 M5 has hit BMW’s Spartanburg Performance Center in force. There are now at least 15 new M5s being prepped for duty at the BMW M School in Spartanburg!
Among this fleet is the very first Sakhir Orange F10 M5 we have seen. Sakhir Orange is a new color available for 2013 M5s. You can see photos of all the other available M5 colors in our photo threads compilation.
All the M School M5s will be equipped with M Carbon Ceramic Brakes, an option which is actually being delayed for customer cars until next year.

A couple of production level F10 M5 sedans have been spotted for the first time with M carbon ceramic brakes, which we previously announced as being delayed until the 2013 calendar year sometime.

Here’s a brief overview of two of the technologies featured in most of the BMW engines available today – TwinPower Turbo and VALVETRONIC (variable valve timing) technology. Valvetronic was first introduced by BMW on the 316ti compact in 2001, and has since often been coupled with BMW’s double-VANOS.
Until 2012, no M model used Valvetronic, but instead continued to feature multiple throttle-bodied designs. The 2012 F10 M5 with its S63 engine is the first M model engine to utilize Valvetronic technology in lieu of the individual throttles found on its equivalents in the BMW X5 M and X6 M. Russia is developing quite a pattern of originating some flashy (yes, understatement) colored BMWs. In the past two years, we’ve witnessed a gold leaf wrapped X5 M and a green chrome F10 5 series originate from the country.
Someone has now decided that Monte Carlo Blue, the flashiest F10 M5 color currently available from the factory, is still not eye catching enough. Why bother fooling around with traditional metallic paint colors or the matte paint options that are all the rage these days when you can just go chrome!

Here is a first look at the Kelleners Sport aero kit and exhaust system for the F10 M5. The cosmetic parts include a carbon fiber front spoiler lip, carbon fiber mirror covers, sideskirts, black rear bumper diffuser with carbon fiber fin, and carbon fiber trunk spoiler. Black 20″ Kelleners Hamburg wheels are fitted on the car.
For performance and sound, the Kelleners Sport full exhaust system with valve control has also been fitted. The valve system has been integrated in the rear silencer and can be opened and closed automatically, depending on the RPM and speed of the car.
