According to Autocar, BMW official have now acknowledged that a 4-wheel-drive model of the new F10 M5 is being prepared for eventual production. The AWD F10 M5 will join the standard RWD M5 as an additional model and should be good news for those who live in snowy climates.
BIMMERPOST faithful Roger Lighterness has rendered a touring concept of the upcoming F10 M5. While this car is still pure fantasy, there have been a few little peeps coming out of BMW M suggesting that this car may become a reality. Heres to hoping that BMW produces such a car!
We’ve reported before about the M Festival taking place at the Nürburgring from June 23rd through June 26th 2011. It’s a four day event comprising of many highlights like the M Night on Thursday evening, an M parade on the Ring on Friday and of course the Nürburgring 24h race on Saturday and Sunday.
What caught our attention in a recent interview about the M Festival is an announcement that they “will be taking the opportunity to exclusively present two brand-new M automobiles for the very first … CONTINUED
EVO has posted a great video review of a preproduction F10 M5 by Chris Harris, filmed in the Swedish winter. If you’ll recall, EVO previously posted a bit of a teaser clip and article in which it was confirmed that the new M5 will have at least 555hp (that’s the output of the X5 M and X6 M) and that “there’s a seven-speed DCT dual clutch transmission with three different shift speeds and a fully automatic mode.

Here is another video featuring the BMW Concept M5. Some weeks after the Unveil in Garching, BMW is currently showcasing the Concept M5 at the 2011 Shanghai Motor Show, and M-Power.com has just released a video of the VIP preview event, featuring some M enthusiasts prediction and then reaction to the M5 unveil.
Here it is – the pre-production F10 M5 with as little camouflage as we have ever seen it with. With most of the front bumper exposed, it’s easy to see that it will basically mirror the front fascia of the concept F10 M5 revealed last month. These sleeker (than concept) side mirrors were not revealed on the concept F10 M5, but should debut on the production F10 M5 in Frankfurt later this year, at the production M5′s world reveal. Expect these wheels to be production intent.

We had a chance to sit down and interview the gracious Matt Russell, M Brand and Alpina Manager for the US, at the 2011 New York International Auto Show. Like us, Matt is a BMW enthusiast through and through. He races BMWs and describes himself as the biggest manual transmission purist he knows. We posed to Matt some commonly asked questions among our forums and members, and are able to share with you the following insights.
Here are the first ever photos of the F10 M5 Concept’s interior. Clearly seen is the tachometer’s redline, DCT with Drivelogic, and unique M fixtures such as the M tri-color stitching and textured trim.
The 2011 Shanghai Auto Show kicked off yesterday and this year’s show highlights the importance BMW now places on the Chinese market. The F10 M5 concept and the 2012 6-series coupe both made their world public debuts. Also being shown for the first time was the F10 5-series plug-in hybrid prototype.
Check out the BMW sights and sounds from Shanghai in this video.
The F10 M5 concept has made its first public debut at a 2011 Shanghai Autoshow pre-show press event. The F10 M5 concept has previously only been shown in a private event hosted by BMW M GmbH at the Garching headquarters.
Here’s proof that it pays off to register at M-Power.com. We reported earlier about the opportunity to submit your dreams about the new M5 and thus get the chance to be invited to exclusive events. Six of the BMW M5 fans that registered at M-Power.com, had the chance to be the first customers to see the BMW Concept M5 at the BMW M headquarter. And while they where at it, they also had the chance to have a look at the BMW M garage – … CONTINUED
Many have said that the F10 M5 makes an impression closer to the E39 M5 than the immediately preceding E60 M5, by ditching the E60′s more avant garde lines and styling for the more direct and linear lines of the E39 generation. To us, this observation certainly has some merit, as borne out by the photo comparison below. To our eyes, the concept F10 M5 seemingly occupies the space between the E39 and E60 iterations – toning down the at-times controversial E60′s curvacious and nontraditional cutlines, … CONTINUED
Many speculated that a AWD F10 M5 was possible in the works when BMW released the promo videos of the new M5 undergoing serious snow testing. It appears there may indeed possibly be an F10 M5 xDrive version sometime in the future. In an interview with Autocar, BMW M’s head of research and development, Albert Biermann, indicated that “There will be some all-wheel-drive surprises on M cars in the future,” apparently to satisfy demand from the US’s snow belt. This would represent the first time … CONTINUED
We undertook yesterday a photo comparison of the F10 M5 concept versus the E60 M5 concept. But how does the F10 M5 compare to its direct German rivals – the Mercedes Benz E63 AMG and the Audi RS6. Let’s take a look below.

The F10 M5 concept was officially unveiled online today [official photos/video/info] to much excitement and anticipation. The F10 M5 represents the successor to the now fabled E60 M5, which began production in 2005 and ended last year. The F10 M5 concept’s official press release photos reminded us much of the E60 M5 concept’s debut photos. We’ve posted up some comparison photos below.

Today marks the public release of the all new BMW Concept M5 ahead of its formal debut in Shanghai.
Now as you may have quickly noticed, the word ‘concept’ sits between BMW and M5, meaning this car is not yet the full production vehicle. In typical BMW M fashion, first a “concept” version of the car is rolled out to the public, in order to showcase what the car will look like, painted in stunning Chrome Shadow. After this car has been shown to the world, … CONTINUED
We have added a live-look video of the BMW M underground garage for your viewing pleasure. It hopefully gives our readers a better sense of the mystique and aura of the environment, which only added to the truly special moment and the heritage of the collection of cars we were witnessing.

What a treat. While covering the M Event in Germany today, Jason and Southlight were invited to tour the BMW M facility, including underground into BMW M’s garage. No not the employee parking garage– THE GARAGE. Yes, the garage where BMW M stores a copy of every single M car ever made. Many of them you or I have never seen or heard of before. Cars that we may have thought about or dreamed about, but never materialized.
The event itself was a special BMW M Press … CONTINUED
