Here’s our coverage on the 2013 F10 M5 on display at the 2012 Detroit NAIAS.
BMW confirmed to us today that the 2013 F10 M5 (no 2012 model will be available in the US) will begin production for the US market in July 2012, with deliveries taking place a couple of months after that. No word on pricing yet which will be announced closer to the US market launch.
It will be available with either a seven-speed DCT or a six-speed manual transmission (now officially official, per the release below), which is welcome news for manual transmission fans. Both transmission will be available immediately upon US launch.

Ben Barry at CAR magazine was apparently on Santa’s good-boys list as he’s currently driving a F10 M5 long term tester. And although he’s only had a few hundred miles behind the seat of this new M5, that’s more than nearly anyone else who’s not a BMW employee. So what’s Ben got to say about the M5 so far? The new BMW M5 (F10) boasts 560hp, so it’s no wonder there have been many high/top speed run videos involving BMW M’s newest model. Here’s yet another high speed run in the F10 M5, up to 270 km/h.
Past videos have run to higher speeds (300 km/h video and 315 km/h video), but this is still fun to see.
The BMW F10 M5 has arrived! In a member’s driveway that is. Congrats to Chris as the proud new owner of a beautiful Silverstone II F10 M5, the very first delivery on BIMMERPOST / 5POST. The silver beast will join an already impressive garage which boasts the M3 GTS and 1M Coupe.

This F10 M5 on-track video from the Circuit Magny-Cours in France is one of the best track videos we’ve seen, effectively conveying the sounds and sensations of tracking the 2013 M5. Recorded by MotorSport, the video captures an entire single lap around the track. If you like exhaust burble, you’ll love this video.

This must have felt like Christmas for the folks at Autobild. Autobild knows what it takes to have a great story and has done a special edition on BMW M models, called “Fascination M.” In this special comparo, Autobild gives an overview of all current BMW M models as well as interesting insights into M GmbH. Most interestingly, Autobild pitted all (yes, all) currently available M models against each other on a German race track named Sachsenring.
The outcome? As you’d expect, the M3 CRT (it’s sold out but more info here) is the fastest M car Autobild has ever tested on Sachsenring as it clocked a 1:38.87 minute laptime (the M3 GTS isn’t available no more). An amazing second place goes to the brand-new F10 M5 … CONTINUED
