The German F10 M5 configurator has gone online — at BMW Germany’s website. F10 M5 intent owners and tire kickers can now see the different M5 configurations available (at least for Germany).

The Configurator can be found at http://www.bmw.de/de/de/general/conf…figurator.html

The BMW.com M5 visualizer has also been available since June.

The F10 M5 starts at 102,700 euros in Germany (equivalent of 148,129 USD). For comparison, the last price for the E60 M5 (Sep 2010) was EUR 94,700 which means a price increase of roughly 8.5%. Applying the same increase of 8.5% to the last US price (2010 M5) of $85,700, the new BMW M5 would be priced at $93,000 for the US. The new M5 had recently made its way onto the track at Laguna Seca and BMW was kind enough to shoot some video while there. The bone chilling engine and exhaust note are more then enough to remind us that this car is the real deal and belongs at home on the track just as well as it does on the road.

The F10 M5 is of course BMW’s fifth generation of the M5 and newest M car to make it to market. The M5 packs 560HP and 501 ft-lbs of torque, all the information and videos can be seen in the official BIMMERPOST thread for the M5.

This is perhaps the best sounding clip we’ve heard yet of the 2012 F10 M5. Many people have lamented the loss of the iconic naturally aspirated V10 of the previous generation M5 and one of the reasons is the expectation that the bi-turbo V8 won’t sound nearly as good. This exhaust clip may go far in convincing some people otherwise however. F10 M5 exhaust video clip inside.

Following up on earlier rumors, it appears that the M tuned 5-series diesel model has been confirmed. According to Thedetroitbureau and Autoblog, BMW has confirmed that there will indeed be a new diesel F10 tuned by BMW M joining the 5-series lineup.

Despite being tuned by BMW M, the F10 diesel M will not receive the “M5″ moniker, but will instead be named along the lines of M550d, 550dM, 550dXM, or 550d xDrive M, each a bit of a clumsy name in our opinion. For what it’s worth, BMW recently filed a trademark for “M550.”

The 5-series M diesel will be powered by a triple turbo inline-6 cylinder diesel motor and will be all-wheel-drive only. The sources speculate that it will come in with slightly less power than … CONTINUED

The 2012 M5 (F10) will come in a fairly extensive choice of colors, including some beautiful individual exterior color options. One of the individual exterior color options is Brilliant White Metallic, which we’ve spotted hanging out at BMW M HQ in Garching, Germany.

Besides the individual brilliant white metallic exterior paint, the this M5 also has other individual options, such as the black painted mirrors and wheels. The red leather interior looks great set off against the white and black exterior color scheme.

As for not having blue brakes, it’s probably because it’s not a production M5, but a factory test car.

We’ve put together a color preview guide for the F10 M5, which can be seen at http://f10.5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=546540
