The just announced M6 Gran Coupe comes next summer to compete with the Mercedes CLS63 AMG. Until now, the CLS63 has really had no direct competition in terms of a car that closely matches its size, styling, performance, and segment.
Now that the CLS63 has some competition, we’ve put together this comparison of specs and photos for your reference. We don’t yet have final physical specs for the M6 Gran Coupe, but we’ve used the 6 Series Gran Coupe exterior dimensions and took a good guess as to the M6 Gran Coupe’s weight.
Here is the first live action video featuring the M6 Gran Coupe. Pretty cool one, so check it out inside.
We present to you the BMW M6 Gran Coupe!
In early summer 2013, the all-new BMW M6 Gran Coupe will join its famous BMW M5 Sedan and M6 Coupe siblings as what is perhaps the perfect combination of both. The BMW M6 Gran Coupe is an ultra-high performance, four-door Coupe design with stunning aesthetics, race- bred technology, and the signature driving character of BMW M GmbH.
The M6 Gran Coupe is made instantly unique among four-door vehicles by its bonded-in carbon fiber composite roof panel, similar to the one found on the M6 Coupe. Between the doors is a cabin of sensational coupe-like design and first-class materials. The M6 Gran Coupe’s control placement and – equally important – control feel are second to none. The four-plus-one seating … CONTINUED
We have been in attendance at the 40 Years of M event at the Nurburgring for the past few days. Besides all the awesome M cars here for driving and ogling (more on those later), BMW M brought out a special treat sneak peek during M Night - the BMW M6 Gran Coupe! Also revealed at the event was the BMW M3 DTM Champion Edition Coupe.
Though technical details were not provided at the sneak preview, it will obviously be powered by the same S63Tu engine from the F10 M5, F12 M6 convertible, and F13 M6 coupe, likely with the same output (560hp).
As seen in its most recent spy pics, the M6 Gran Coupe features the same sculpted carbon fiber roof as the M6 coupe and … CONTINUED
In this video, race car driver Scott Pruett and BMW Product & Technology Communications Manager Matt Russell explain the BMW M Electronic Damper Control (EDC) system and how the Comfort, Sport and Sport+ suspension settings make a difference in the F10 M5 and F12/F13 M6.
Although the M5 and M6 use an M tuned version of the BMW EDC, here is a general summary of EDC technology from BMW:
Electronic Damper Control (EDC) automatically or manually adjusts each damper to suit the driving conditions meaning you enjoy outstanding comfort along with the best in BMW on-road safety. EDC reduces variations in wheel load, ensures tyres have excellent traction and counteracts bodyshell movement regardless of the weight your automobile may be carrying or the state of the road’s … CONTINUED
Have a peek at the first completely uncovered 2014 M6 Gran Coupe, captured by a daring photographer in a BMW factory. It may only be a side view, but there’s no doubt this is the M6 Gran Coupe.
Its blue M brakes (a new M signature going forward), sideskirts, and mirrors are all evidence this is the M6 Gran Coupe.
What is also seen for the first time on this car are the production wheels, a completely new BMW wheel design.
The latest outing by the upcoming 2014 M6 Gran Coupe (M6GC) leaves little else to be revealed. Not that there were many surprises to be revealed in the first place, as the M6GC was expected to share bodywork and most everything else with the F13 Coupe and F12 Convertible variants, but this prototype shows the sculpted roof (carbon fiber underneath the camouflage, just like 6 Series Coupe) and a set of carbon ceramic brakes for the first time.
This is also the first M6GC prototype we have seen sporting the M6 coupe and convertible’s double-slat kidney grilles with M6 badge.
The M6 Gran Coupe will arrive as a 2014 model year and see its auto show debut at the 2013 Detroit NAIAS in January 2013 or the 2013 … CONTINUED
Latest render by resident artist Harold Wood of the 2013/2014 BMW M6 Gran Coupe (F06), which will debut early next year.
Latest information from homepage:
BMW has now finally officially acknowledged the model to be coming next year (US and worldwide). It will likely arrive as a 2014 model year and see its auto show debut at the 2013 NAIAS in Detroit or the 2013 Geneva show. Expect the first details of the car to be announced online by the end of this year.
The M6 Gran Coupe will be powered by the same S63Tu engine as the M5 and M6, but possibly be introduced with a bit more power than the 560hp of the M5/M6. Prototypes have been spotted testing with and benchmarked against M5s (video below). A … CONTINUED
