In 1973, Toine Hezemans won the European Touring Car Championship in a 3.0CSL and co-drove a 3.0CSL with Dieter Quester to a class victory at Le Mans. Hezemans and Quester had driven to second place at the 1973 German Touring Car Grand Prix at Nürburgring, being beaten only by Chris Amon and Hans-Joachim Stuck in another 3.0CSL.

BMW of North America today announced a multi-year partnership with Daytona International Speedway to serve as the title sponsor for the season-opening IMSA Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge race. In 2015, the two-and-one-half-hour race, which is officially titled the BMW Performance 200, will run on Friday, Jan. 23, as part of the Rolex 24 At Daytona Weekend. Motorhead hosted their first Hill Climb event held on the winding stretch of road that makes up the amazing Mazda Turnpike located on Hakone mountain. This special event played host to a wide range of racing machines from Super GT (BMW Z4 GT3) to classic race cars along with a high powered drift machine all with the sole intentions of attacking these fast paced, dangerous road.

The Punta del Este ePrix in Uruguay marked the third round of the trend-setting race series for Formula vehicles with electric drive. A little over a week after BMW works driver Marco Wittmann (DE) received the coveted 2014 DTM Champion trophy at the season finale in Hockenheim (DE), on Monday he visited the home of BMW in Munich (DE). The 24-year-old visited the BMW Group plant in Munich. GSR Autosport gives us the skinny on their Global Time Attack M4 prior to SEMA. The GSR Autosport Global Time Attack project car is being developed to run in the 2015 GTA Pro Am Series in Street Class. The overall concept is sort of a Jekyll & Hyde thing where certain parts will be able to be swapped back and forth – between track duty and street duty – parts such as the front splitter, rear decklid/wing, roll bar, seats, wheels/tires, etc.

A successful 2014 DTM season for BMW Motorsport drew to an end in Hockenheim (DE). South African BMW race prep and tuning experts, Team SavSpeed Racing, revealed their brand new BMW F30 wide body racer at the Kyalami Grand Prix circuit recently at one of the BMW Car Club Gauteng’s track and race days.

BMW Motorsport will add a new chapter to its success story in GT racing in 2016. The BMW M6 GT3 will replace the BMW Z4 GT3, which has been in action since 2010.
