Munich, 5th April 2012. With three weeks to go until the first race of the 2012 DTM season, BMW Motorsport has officially completed its test programme. From Monday to Thursday the three teams and their six drivers were hard at work at the Hockenheimring (DE), traditionally the venue of the opening round, which this year will get underway on 29th April 2012. Following a four-week intermission after BMW Team RLL’s GT class victory at the 12 Hours of Sebring American Le Mans Series curtain-raiser the second act of the team’s ALMS GT class title defense will be set in the streets of Long Beach, California on April 14th.
Last year Joey Hand and Dirk Müller had starring roles as Long Beach race winners and, ultimately GT class driver’s champions. This year’s story has begun much as the last with Hand and Müller sharing a second consecutive Sebring 12 Hour victory – this time supported by Jonathan Summerton, of Kissimmee, Fla., as third driver.

The car has now been sold to a famous oil and additives German company LIQUI MOLY EGYPT, which bought the car for their marketing, advertising and events purposes.
The official specs and photos of the first F30 3 series race cars have now been released. The twin F30 race cars by ADF Motorsport will debut on March 31st in the WesBank Super series and will go on to race in the upcoming 2012 24 Hour Nurburgring race. BMW Classic had a great showing of cars at the Techno Classica Autoshow held in Essen, Germany. The Techno Classica is billed as the worlds largest classic car show. It never dissapoints. At the BMW display area were some great cars from BMW’s glory days (and even some modern models). What makes it all so great is that most of the cars shown were BMW car club member’s cars. BMW of North America today announced that the all-new 560 horsepower 2013 M5 Sedan will participate in the grueling One Lap of America event starting May 4, 2012. Instructors from the BMW Performance Center, located in Spartanburg, South Carolina, will drive the 3,300 mile tour that originates in South Bend, Indiana and incorporates highway, skid pad, drag strip, and closed course racing during the eight day event.
“The fifth generation M5 will compete for the new ‘Showroom Stock’ recognition within the Luxury Sedan class at One Lap of America, which serves as the perfect opportunity to demonstrate its performance capabilities as well as those of the BMW Performance Center instructors,” said Dan Gubitosa, BMW Performance Center Manager. BMW Team RLL was victorious at this weekend’s exciting 12 Hours of Sebring race in Florida, at which BMW hosted a BMW Corral for local enthusiasts. Many of our site members were in attendance for the race and parked in the corral. On hand was the F10 M5 for everyone to ogle and check out.
BMW Team RLL had an excellent start to the 2012 American Le Mans Series season. At the 60th running of the 12 Hours of Sebring (US) the no. 56 BMW M3 GT claimed overall victory in the GT class after 307 laps of the “Sebring International Raceway” and a dramatic final stage of the race. Over the course of the thrilling marathon, Dirk Müller (DE), Joey Hand (US) and Jonathan Summerton (US) shared the driving duties. Last year, Müller and Hand (along with Andy Priaulx) crossed the line as winners in the BMW M3 GT at the season opener.

Two 335i F30 race cars (the first we know of in the world) will debut in South Africa on March 31, 2012. These cars are built and raced by ADF Motorsport based at the Kyalami Race track. They will race in the Bridgestone Production Cars race in the WesBank Super series and be broadcast on Supersport in South Africa.
