Le Castellet, 11th April 2010. In the first round of the 2010 Le Mans Series, BMW Team Schnitzer finished sixth in the LM GT2 class with the no. 78 BMW M3 GT2. At the “Circuit Paul Ricard” in Le Castellet (FR) the BMW works drivers, Jörg Müller (DE) and Dirk Werner (DE), completed a total of 225 laps over the course of the eight-hour race. Marc Lieb (DE) and Richard Lietz (AT) claimed victory at the wheel of a Porsche 997 GT3 RSR.

This weekend, BMW Motorsport will send the BMW M3 GT2 into action at two events – the LMS and VLN. BMW Team Schnitzer will contest the first race in the Le Mans Series at the “Circuit Paul Ricard” in Le Castellet (FR). Jörg Müller (DE) and Dirk Werner (DE) will take on the opposition in the LM GT2 category at this eight-hour race. Following third in the season curtain-raiser at the end of March, Team BMW Motorsport lines up with a BMW M3 GT2 at the second race of the VLN Endurance Championship. Berk Technology’s BMW 135i with GIAC custom software won first for the Street Tire RWD class, a new class track record and a new track record for a BMW 135i in the 2010 Redline Time Attack at Buttonwillow Raceway Park on Sunday. The Berk entry had a fast lap time of 1:58.839 and was the only one to break the 2:00.000 barrier.
Nürburgring, 27th March 2010. In the first round of the 2010 VLN Endurance Championship at the Nürburgring’s Nordschleife Team BMW Motorsport crossed the line after fours hours of racing in third. Augusto Farfus (BR), Uwe Alzen (DE) and Pedro Lamy (PT) put in a faultless performance at the wheel of the no. 742 BMW M3 GT2 and were rewarded with the first podium of the season. Their team-mates, Dirk Werner (DE), Dirk Müller (DE) and Dirk Adorf (DE), however, were forced to retire with the BMW M3 GT2 (no. 743) after two laps. The reason for this was a technical defect with the power steering which couldn’t be repaired.
