The Brabham BT52 was a Formula One car designed for the Brabham team by longtime Brabham designer Gordon Murray for the 1983 season. The car ran on Michelin tyres and was powered by the massively powerful BMW M12/13 turbocharged engine which in 1983 produced about 850 bhp (630 kW) in qualifying trim, detuned to around 640 bhp (480 kW) for the races proper. BMW Team RBM’s Augusto Farfus (BR) finished third as the DTM made its debut at the “Moscow Raceway” to claim BMW Motorsport’s first podium finish since the race in Spielberg (AT). Dirk Müller and John Edwards, driving the No. 56 BMW Z4 GTE, won today’s American Le Mans Series Northeast Grand Prix from the pole position. The win increases Müller’s lead in the GT driver point standings and moves BMW to within (unofficially) three points of the lead in the Manufacturer’s Championship. The BMW Z4 GT3 has claimed its first podium finish at the Nürburgring 24 Hours (DE): Maxime Martin (BE) brought the number 25 BMW Sports Trophy Team Marc VDS car home in second. The 2013 One Lap of America got underway at 8:30 this morning with the traditional Wet Skid Pad event at Tire Rack’s Headquarters in South Bend, Indiana. Usually we’re greeted with cool temperatures and occasional showers, but for a change we had bright sunny skies and a large crowd was on hand to watch the competition unfold. Just days ahead of the start of the new DTM season, BMW Team Schnitzer driver Bruno Spengler (CA) already has his first race at the Hockenheimring (DE) under his belt – although it did come at the wheel of a somewhat alien car to the Canadian.
