The M235i / 2 Series is due soon and while we wait, it’s undergoing some final performance testing on the Nurburgring, where it’s said by BMW to be able to beat the 1M Coupe.
Klaus Froehlich, Senior Vice President Brand and Product Strategies at BMW recently revealed these little tidbits:
The M235i is as close a spiritual successor to the 2002ti that we’ve had. My initial benchmark was that it will be faster than the BMW 1M Coupe around the Nurburgring, which it is.”I have just signed … CONTINUED
In this video review Autoexpress tests the BMW M135i against the Mercedes A45 AMG – with a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine it’s going to be a stern rival for the BMW.
The BMW gets a six-cylinder engine, revs to 7000rpm but peak torque is at just 1300rpm, so it has instant power. It does come in manual, but we’ve got the eight-speed automatic gearbox. Autoexpress took it around our track in just 1 minute 14 seconds.

While the collection of automotive hardware (everything from some of the most expensive classics to the latest model exotics) spotted around the Monterey peninsula was the largest and most impressive gathering we’ve ever witnessed, the highlight of the trip for us was having the first look … CONTINUED
The £100,000 BMW i8 is a plug-in performance hybrid due to be revealed at the 2013 Frankfurt show in September but evo was invited to drive a pre-production i8 at a secret test track in France this month, six months before we get to drive the production version. This video gives you a taste of what this revolutionary 155mph performance car for the future is going to be like to drive.
The patent drawings for the upcoming X4 SAV have been revealed and they preview many body panels, as well as headlights and tail lights.
The front bumper pictured in the diagrams may be an M Sport bumper as it features much larger air intakes than those seen on recent standard model X4 prototypes.
And while the production X4 will lose the hexagonal corona lights of the X4 Concept, the diagrams show that the X4 will receive a full adaptive LED headlight option (figure 3.2).

The rain came down just in time for the start of the seventh DTM race of the season at the Nürburgring (DE), making it a real motorsport thriller and providing plenty of dramatic scenes. BMW Team RBM driver Augusto Farfus (BR), who had started from pole position, drove a flawless race in difficult conditions at the wheel of the Castrol EDGE BMW M3 DTM, and only lost out to the victorious Robert Wickens (CA, Mercedes). This was Farfus’ third podium of the season and the … CONTINUED
