Motor Trend has just published a comparison of a trio of hot turbocharged cars – the BMW M235i, Mercedes CLA45 AMG and Subaru WRX STI Launch Edition.

You can catch the full review at Motor Trend, but here are some M235i highlights and results.

The Bavarian Ballerina

Comprehending the M’s character took little effort when hustling among the canyons: a few degrees tilt of the thick helm, a stab of the attentive throttle, one snappy downshift from the eight-speed automatic. Everything’s tuned for dynamism. You feel it. You hear it. The rear 245/35R18 Michelin Pilot SuperSports dug in feverishly, tidily converting the 3.0-liter inline-six’s 330 lb-ft into a smooth surge. The M235i meticulously sliced through the bends, with variable steering that served up an ideal weightiness, albeit … CONTINUED

Deep dive info and an interview with the BMW M engineer responsible for developing the F80 M3 and F82 M4′s new M servotronic EPS steering system.

Until now, the power steering employed in M automobiles was hydraulic servo-assisted, but both the new BMW M3 Sedan and the new BMW M4 Coupé are set to be the first M automobiles to be fitted with an electrical servo-assisted steering system. What are the reasons behind this development?

Benedikt Nussstein: The new M Servotronic with Electro Power Steering (EPS) weighs about 3.5 kg less than comparable systems with hydraulic servo-assisted steering, which is important when it comes to creating an optimum axle load distribution and in turn ensuring agile handling. The new steering saves approximately 0.3 litres of petrol … CONTINUED

Great detailed review and writeup from a F30 335i owner on his M Performance Power Kit and Exhaust fitted 335i:

I wanted to create an M Performance thread focused on the 8AT, since the existing reviews seem mostly 6MT centric. Looking forward to hearing from feedback from all you 8AT guys running an MPPK or MPPK + ___ , as well as sharing my experiences as I continue to learn more about this car. Hopefully this will help the community decide on whether or not the M Performance Power kit is the right tuning solution for them!

My vehicle: 2014 F30 335i M Sport with Sport Auto (M Performance Power Kit and M Performance Exhaust). Given that it’s a MY14, it has launch control.
