The X5 eDrive plug-in hybrid model has now been spotted undergoing testing. These may only be a couple of photos, but we already know what the F15 X5 looks like. We expect the X5 eDrive to launch sometime around late 2014 – early 2015.
As for specs? The X5 eDrive Concept model was unveiled at the Frankfurt auto show last September and featured:

BMW has been advertising the 2014 F15 X5 with the tagline “The Boss is Back” (seen at the end of the second ad below) and the latest commercial coming out of Japan humorously shows just how boss the new X5 is — stopping a tough biker gang and a train dead in their tracks. The boss X5 is of course given the right of way.

The F48 recently began its testing in August-September and while still heavily camouflaged, the test mules reveal a brawnier and stockier look than the current E84 X1. Compared to the E84, the F48 X1 features a shorter front end, shortened overhangs and a taller and more upright greenhouse. While some may mistaken the E84 X1 for a larger wagon, there’s no mistaking the upcoming F48 X1 as a compact SAV.
