A hostage situation developed at the BMW France offices this morning. An armed employee of BMW France took hostages and fired off two shots. An elite anti-crime brigade helped free the three hostages without harm.

BMWNA has launched the first-ever user-generated iAD to promote the launch of the all-new BMW X3. iAd is Apple’s new mobile advertising network, reaching millions of iPhone and iPod touch users. The iAD’s focus is on BMW’s built-to-order program that allows customers to create an entirely customized BMW X3. The iAd, the primary mobile component of the X3’s marketing campaign, allows an individual to go from dreaming about a new custom-built X3 to having it delivered to their driveway in just a few weeks.
BMW will begin featuring an interactive and innovative iPad experience for Auto Show consumers, debuting at the S.Florida Int’l Auto Show in Miami. The traditional Auto Shows Specification panel used to display vehicle information and pricing will be replaced by interactive iPads which will offer consumers enhanced functionality such as the opportunity to design their own BMW using the digital configurator. Consumers can experience the dynamic features of the displayed models with the iPad.

It’s officially official! The BMW Vision EfficientDynamics plug-in hybrid sports car production has been announced by BMW! The 2+2-seater will feature the futuristic BMW styling language, geared consistently towards aesthetic appeal and dynamic performance. Wing doors facilitate entry to both rows of seats, while extensive aerodynamic measures reduce the drag coefficient to 0.22. The combination of a 3-cylinder turbo diesel with a hybrid synchronous motor at the front axle and a full-hybrid engine at the rear axle enables an overall system output of 241 kW/328 bhp. The Los Angeles Auto Show will take place in two weeks (11/19-28) and two new BMW cars will be making their North American debuts – the all new 2011 BMW X3 and the BMW 6-series Coupe Concept. Also previewed will be BMW ConnectedDrive, which will showcase technology for integrating BlackBerry smartphones in the car, new Bluetooth interface technology created for the Apple iOS 4 operating system and allows the new Apple iPhone 4 to be integrated, among other devices. Also on show is the iPod Out function, which optimizes the operation of various Apple music players in the vehicle. The mobility of the future is under construction in Leipzig. The BMW Group is expanding its plant in Leipzig to make it the first location in Germany equipped to handle the large-scale production of zero-emission electric cars. In the period up to 2013, around €400 million will be invested at the plant in new buildings and machinery for the production of the Megacity Vehicle (MCV). Some 800 jobs will be created in the process. The plant expansion was launched on Friday by German Chancellor Dr Angela Merkel and Dr Norbert Reithofer, Chairman of the Board of Management of BMW AG, together with the Prime Minister of the German state of Saxony, Stanislaw Tillich, and the Governor of Washington state in the US, Chris Gregoire.
