We’ve just learned from our source that BMW has officially approved the production BMW i8 Spyder for a late 2015 introduction. The approval came last Friday and a production intent model was shown internally at BMW. It was an i8 Spyder in Solar Orange (same color as on i3) with blue highlights, of which we’ve produced a preview rendering below.
Mechanically, the i8 Spyder will share the i8 Coupe’s powerplant and drivetrain. Stylistically, it will be identical to the i8 Spyder Concept, but with the production styling aspects of the i8 Coupe.
Here are the latest rumors on a BMW M3 GT, M7 and AWD M5/M6.

As we recently reported, the car that everyone has been calling the “1 Series GT” has now been fully revealed — as a 225i. Its full official name will be the 225i Active Tourer.
Also as predicted, the production version retains the Concept Active Tourer’s styling. The differences are the smaller kidney grilles, revised fascias and different lights. The shots of the interior reveal the same multi-layered styling seen in other late model BMWs.
The 2 Series Active Tourer will share the newest MINI’s engines and FWD “UKL” platform, but also come in AWD models. And, it will come in a longer-wheelbase version with a third row of seats.
It’s one of several new FWD vehicles which BMW will use to push into new segments. Ian Robertson, … CONTINUED
