The M3 GTS is probably the most highly coveted M3 out there right now. Never mind that every example of the car has been sold out, or that its only available to select customers in Europe, we still think about this car on a daily basis. That of course only feeds the desire to get behind the wheel of this rare beast. BMW has introduced a limited model BMW X6 called the X6 Performance Unlimited edition for the Japanese market. Only 20 will be made. The X6 Performance Unlimited is based on an X6 xDrive35i and has the following special upgrades:
BMW Individual silver pearl color paint
Special BMW Performance aerokit (front bumper, blackout grills, skirskirts, rear diffuser)
21" alloy wheels with sport tires
Shadowline black window trim
Special leather seats and Chateau Nevada leather interior

The BMW X6 Performance Unlimited is available for order in Japan with pricing set at 9,450,000 Yen (about US$108,400 or €86,300).

Here are some more pictures of the 1-series M, including the first interior shots. This is still the prototype, so its subject to changes, but so for we have M3 seats, M3 steering wheel and different gauges (not sure if the two-tone dials are here to stay). Fuel cutoff appears to be at 7,000 rpm. Contrary to some reports, you can also see a proper LSD.
Car and Driver was given a ride in the prototype 1M Coupe at the Ascari racetrack in Spain and shares that even in prototype form, it was almost everything they had hoped for. They were treated to a very fast lap which demonstrated the handling prowess of the 1M Coupe. Check out their experience.
Autobilds current issue has an exclusive on the 1M Coupe. According to Autobild, the 1M Coupe will feature 340PS, twin turbo N54 engine, 6MT standard (DCT optional). Note: these specs have NOT been officially confirmed!

The anticipation began in August 1985. That summer Germany’s automobile magazines built up their readers’ expectations for the fastest 3 Series BMW of all times. The key data revealed a sports car that would punch way above its class: 200 hp, top speed in excess of 230 km/h, sprint from a standing start to 100 km/h inside 6.7 seconds. However, the story was that “the most dynamic BMW 3 Series drivers” would have to wait until mid-1986. The pundits were right on that count. Here are some updates on the upcoming BMW 1M — “1M” appears to be settled name for the new M-level 1-series. It is currently shooting on Lanzarotte, a Spanish volcanic island, but will shoot in LA later this summer. Look to AutoBild’s latest issue for a feature on the BMW 1 Concept M.
